3.3TT Low Oil Pressure

Two separate issues. A faulty sensor will cause the light to intermittently come on (false positive). An actual oil leak from the deteriorated hose can cause the light to come on once it loses enough pressure (true positive).
Hell. Looks like we’re knee deep in shit river.

This just came in and says it’s related to our oil pressure light coming on. That’s interesting, this whole time we were assuming it was a fault sensor.

Any thoughts?
I think you may have misread that letter?
That letter is related to the safety recall about the left hand turbocharger oil feed pipe.

The low oil pressure light would correctly illuminate if you have low oil pressure due to an oil leak!

You’re correct. And I have no oil leak. Next question is, do they just replace the faulty oil feed pipe with another faulty oil feed pipe?

Yes.
Free of charge.

Having the same issue - on a drive today I had the oil pressure light pop on while stopped at a light. Went away as I pulled away from the light and reappeared at the next light, and disappeared if I gave it any amount of gas above idle.

Called a couple of dealerships nearby and the number on my "Stinger Client Services" card (which has never done me any good!) and didn't really get anywhere asking questions about if I can drive it to them or if I need to tow it. Just about at 108,000 mile, so due for a service anyway. I guess I'll take it to the place that did the engine out recall about 5,000 miles ago. Can't help but wonder if the two are related, though it's of course possible if not likely they are not.

Should be safe to drive it to them if it's the oil sensor issue. Double check dipstick to make sure. You'll end up paying a pretty penny to install a new sensor since you are not under warrenty anymore

Checking the oil level on the dipstick does not make sure that the oil pressure is good though!

Has anyone successfully measured the oil pressure using the port on the side of the oil filter housing?

I'm having the exact same issue. Low oil pressure light coming on intermittently, when parking the car or at very low RPMs. Tends to stay on for 5-10 seconds then goes away. Just started happening at 56k miles.

Is the left hand side side considered the drivers side? I had the drivers side oil feed line recall done a few months ago and just a few days ago my oil light came on. Doesn’t come on everyday. But has been coming on in the morning gs since it’s gotten colder. And from what I’ve read the oil pressure sensor has a thermistor inside and that’s how it reads “pressure”? I have no issue changing the sensor myself if all I need is a 22mm on a wobble. I’ve pulled that I take off 3 or more times. Not really an issue. May take it off just to do some investigating.

1. In North America, yes, the left hand side, is the driver side.

2, You are mistaken on the pressure sensor. Well yes it is a combination sensor that has a pressure switch as well as a thermometer, it does not use temperature to detect pressure. It is two sensors in one. (4 wires).

3. I don't think you need a 22 mm on a wobble, I think you need a modified 24 mm wrench! Like this

Odd that yours comes on in the mornings....

I would have expected the oil pressure light to only come on when the engine is fully up to temperature and the idle is as low as possible, and not when the oil is cold...

Weird.

Yeah mine has been coming on at night when the engine is at temp

Same here. 56k miles. Light comes on as soon as it goes under 800rpm and turns off as soon as I accelerate. This morning was the first really cold day wondering if that has something to do with it. Also just just had the car in the dealer for the recall less then a month ago.

Ah yes a fellow smartass like myself. Lmaoo. I didn’t know if they considered it the LH side, looking at the motor. I should’ve been more clear. Set myself up for that. Still giggling. Thank you.

Lol.. I'm laughing too, and I wasn't actually even trying to be rude, but I can see how it might have sounded that way....

You weren’t rude at all. I started giggling then had to tell the wife, “Hey he’s just like me!”

I brought mine in for the recall they borescope the pressure switch and its leaking through it onto the harness. Apparently, this is happening to all the stingers from what they said but it's happening outside the warranty window, so we are SOL. Going to replace it myself vs the $3,600 bill I was quoted, he said do not sit on it because it will still leak even with the light not coming on and run down to the pcm.

Mine started to leak couple weeks ago. Wil be taking care of it, once it gets warm enough. 2018 with 145k miles.

But the PCM is not located anywhere near the oil pressure switch... It can't leak down to the PCM.
