Lease Incentive History by Month

Usually lease incentives aren't posted until a few days into the month, but indeed they're here - and reduced.

Wow, is this the first time that the lease cash has ended a model year LOWER than when it was first released (i.e. the 22 GT2 is now getting $100 less than back in July 2021)?

Hopefully this means I get max value when I sell my 22 GT2. Love the car, but I can't seem to get more than 15 mpg on my drive, which is all city and has lots of stops, so the frequency of refilling is just annoying.

Kinda crazy, as they even reduced the military bonus from 400 to 300....I've never seen any manufacturer lower the military bonus o_O

Interesting - I've not seen a military cash back bonus being reduced before, either. Wonder if other manufacturers will reduce their college graduate or military cash back. Production isn't anywhere near meeting demand, and they're going to need to make money where they can.

BMW reduced the military incentive this year by quite a bit and dropped it for Penfed members altogether.

I really think this low lease cash suggests the end is nigh for the Stinger… it looks, imho, like they’re saying “we don’t want these coming back to us in a couple of years, so if you want it then buy it”.

1 more year. IDT Kia would have made the changes they did to the MY2022 if they weren't going to produce it for at least 1 more year. Also, with everything moving towards electric, ICEs are going extinct slowly but surely, year by year. I've put in a 50A power point at 2 of my houses to support lvl.2 charging- both my kids have plug-ins and I just flipped my plug-in Prius to buy my 2022 Ascot green GT-Line, but its the future as the batteries get better and better. I suspect hydrogen will eventually replace batteries, or they'll coexist for some time- have you ever seen the energy density of hydrogen? It's off the charts compared to just about anything else. Indeed, it's the fuel of the stars themselves.

what do those charts even mean?

It used to be that Kia gave huge incentives to lease (I.e. they’d discount a Stinger by thousands if you leased). So the cheapest way to buy one was to first lease it, then buy out the lease immediately. That is no longer the case!

I dunno - $5k seems like a pretty huge incentive

They’re only giving $3400 on the GT2 now, which is reduced by $1000 relative to buying when you factor the inception and disposition fees. Then they have about $2000 in incentives for purchase (I think). So you might save about $400 from a lease which isn’t really worth the headache of buying it out, in my opinion.

You loose some money out of that, about 1000 in fees. And you can loose some in higher interest outside KMF (financing new through KMF vs financing outside). But still 4k is good, it used to be much better, we got 6.5k on first one and 9.9k on second one.

Incentives were raised back up considerably for May.

Though not officially announced, I think we'll see the 2023 models fairly soon.

Up until recent months while inventory was dwindling, lease incentives normally increased throughout the model year.

Will be interesting to see what they do on 2023's... the 2022 stock seems very thin and this is still a very small incentive compared to previous end-of-year numbers.
