Kia Stinger Rear Hatch Rattle

No free cars now :whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Just returned from my dealership. The TSB exists and is SA322. I have a .PDF file - but the image is huge (the file's only 204KB). Interestingly, my extremely anal parts manager says my VIN's not part of the affected lot. I'll be taking my car in next week to let them figure out how they're going to fix it. They'll get it done, they always do.
Thank you very much! The first post has been updated with the TSB. :)

That answers the rattle question for most of us leaving one very important question for me to ask. That question is - What is the real name of The Man With No Name? I HAVE TO know and Kazz you gotta know the answer!

The Man With No Name was in three films. Let's see, in "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", he was called "Rubio," referring to his blonde hair. FWIW, he was the titular "The Good" in that film. "Rubio" is the nickname my Spanish teacher gave me in middle school. Otherwise, in "For A Few Dollars More" he was called "Manco," Spanish for one-armed man. His character used his left hand for all but one action and it was the hand most visible throughout the film. He used his right almost exclusively for shooting. The only time he was really called anything resembling a name was when the undertaker in "A Fistful of Dollars" called him "Joe." In that movie, Clint Eastwood is credited as "Joe." Otherwise, some novels sprung up that took place after "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" where he was referred to with labels, but nothing like a name.

We now return you to your thread topic! LOL

Thanks for that Kazz very informative - I do remember him being called Blondie by Tuco in the Good bad ugly.

Just an FYI, I had my repair done yesterday and the noise has returned. It just isn’t as constant as it was. I’m starting to get frustrated over it now.

Maybe they tightened down the posts on the hatch , have you tried looseneing them up a half or full turn . Thats all it took for mine and I'm not sure whether my car has the faulty bump stock yet . Good luck , they'll get it fixed , creaking from lack of torsional rigidity is virtually impossible to fix , rattles are much easier IMHO !

I just checked them, I guess the dealer did as well. I gave it a quarter turn and it came out. Hopefully they get it on the next try.

Thats too bad , there's a better fix , stay confident !

I’m reading this thread with great anticipation. Just bought a micro blue GT AWD on 12/27 and it has the dreaded rattle. I hope a permanent fix is available soon. But other than the rattle the car is remarkable.

We just added a survey for this rear hatch rattle if anyone is interesting in partaking in it...

Kia Stinger Rear Hatch Noise Survey
ATTENTION:

Just had my initial oil change at 1200mi and there is an ALERT out for the rattle. My dealership says the already have the kit and says it takes about an hour. I don’t have any other information, such as a bulletin number or the such but I will get that info tomorrow when I take it in.

Kazz has already posted the notice , thanks

Kia delivered a special kit to my dealer that included materials for 3 changes to the material in the plastic section of the hatch. I do not have all specifics as the service manager explained the solution at a fairly high level, yet he had special isntructions for 3 different changes and for checking the setting on the rubber stopper mentioned by a number of people. I do not now if the material was meant to be in the car originaly or if this is new material being added. If your car has a metal on metal ratting sound when you ride over any bumps at lower speads, the kit in North America that was used in my car is possibly needed and Kia Consumer Services North America can source it for you. I have no problem with anyone who wished to bash me because of my dissapointment with the noise. I think if anyone drove in my car they would have been surprissed. Good to know there is a fix for anyone else.

I'm really glad to hear the problem is fixed. If they have a "fix" all set for it - then it must be a pretty big problem. But all's well that ends well! :)

It appears setting the rearmost bumpers (overslam bumpers) is a start (24-26cm). Then there are new, thicker pads between the car's chassis and the "guide bumpers" in the side channels. Lastly, it appears they're doubling up on the washers between that new pad and the chassis itself. That's if I'm interpreting it all properly.

The pad and washers should be helping to insulate any noise of the hatch moving on the guide bumpers. Plus, I'm guessing it makes the landing area in the channel, onto the guide bumpers a bit broader.

At least that's my woefully uninformed take!

Have you had the dealer look at the rattle again since you said it resurfaced?
