Kia Stinger Rear Hatch Rattle

I have owned many cars and never had a continuos rattle. It is not a slight rattle. I have commonly owned Toyotas and have never had rattles when driving. I do not think you have the same noise in your car. I am sure Kia are happy that you do not mind if your car rattles when you drive. The idea that defects in cars such as persistent loud rattle from the truncK is acceptle is the real joke! I hope you never get the issue on your new car.

I suggest you be patient. There will most definitely be a fix. This is a new car on the market, and a very important one for KIA, and no it's not acceptable that it have a rattle at the back. When I bought the first generation Kia Optima in 2011, many customers were initially having problems with the engine rattling from a cold start. Some new Optima owners were in a panic for the first few months, until KIA was able to find a fix. It turned out to be a problem with the wastegate actuator rod. A visit to the KIA dealership solved the problem for the cars in question. Give KIA time to figure out the cause of the problem.

I had the rattle , but it was easily corrected I adjusted the hatch bumpers. I had a 2008 BMW 550 M Sport that had a "creaking" sound . They replaced the door seals 3 times , nothing ! i fixed it by using rubbing alcohol to clean all the door seals and metal contact points . The car wasnt stiff enough . It was a common problem for thr E60 series .

My rattle remains and is very enoying. Very poor for a brand new car. Still no resolution from Kia consumer services. I asked for a replacement car and Karla of Kia Consumer services said no it was my problem as a consumer. Kia consure promised to repair the ratte with a special kit they stated was sent to the dealer on Monday last week the 18th of December 2017. Today is the 26th and my rattle persists and is not acceptable for a new car and the flagship new Kia car. I was kind enough to be very patient since purchase on this issue yet have received no resolution.

let me tell ya something. i bet you came across as real offensive threatening kia with the lemon law because your car rattled. the stinger is brand new to customers and issues are also brand new to kia. give them some time to get this issue resolved. you don't buy a new car and demand your money back when there's a minor problem and they haven't fixed it a week later over the christmas holiday. it's obvious there is an issue with atleast some stingers and they'll get it figured out.

now i will also say that there are some genesis owners who had their car replaced. believe it or not one guy had his car replaced two times but still ended up unsatisfied and had the car bought back. this was over noise in the panoramic sunroof. so i don't blame you for feeling this problem may never be resolved. but seriously give them some time.

I guess that you’re the sort of guy that once you’ve used toilet paper you say that it is now brown and want a replacement roll.......

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::coffee::coffee::thumbdown:.........in all seriousness , rattles drive me crazy in a car , any sound actually , I'm sure that the sound he's hearing can be fixed , but it is such a piss off for it to happen in a brand new car that you;ve invested a lot of emotional energy in to ( and some $$ ) patience will be rewarded !

Here is your answer -

Make sure your eyes are open when driving though.

I also had the slight rattle, as people have mentioned with a an adjustment of the hatch rubbers its.

I test drove a 2.0 RWD Premium today and notice a hatch rattle within 2 minutes of driving. Either they have a minor problem or the dealer needs to do a better delivery prep. I'm going to go with it's a minor issue that needs to be addressed.

While I agree that maybe requesting a new car is a bit extreme, I definitely do not agree with roasting him for his opinion or how he feels. He has every right to be upset and I think we as a forum can be better at coming up with solutions instead of our human nature to grab a pitch fork.

@MichaelH Hope the dealership can rectify this problem. I wish I could help but I have yet to encounter any issues.

Agreed. No need to slam a forum member like this.

These are the "minor" types of issues that Kia will need to rectify to compete with the big boys. It sounds like a quality control issue that should have never escaped the factory.

On one hand, I think it's a little harsh to expect a new car or refund because of this rattle. On the other, we have to face the fact that with the Stinger, and at this price point, this type of buyer is expecting pretty close to perfection. So while I don't necessarily agree that Kia should already be refunding Michael's money - they do need to step up to the plate and resolve the issue in a timely manner. I believe they will. Let's just give them some time...

What's interesting is that not a single review of the vehicle has mentioned a rattle from the hatch. Perhaps a last minute change was made. I trust Kia will make it right for everyone.

It could be that the dealerships are supposed to go through certain areas, tightening things up before sale. Perhaps those things were done properly for the reviews and not otherwise...

I test drove a 2.0 RWD Premium today and it rattled within 2 minutes of test driving. But I saw this issue on this forum and suspect it can be temporarily fixed with the rubber dampers until Kia fixes the larger issue.

Say, for those owners....can you post a pic of the dampers you adjusted?

I have the same issue with my 2.0. The service dept. originally thought it was the third brake light cover as they remove it to install the brake light safety feature. They did find the clips were broken and ordered me a new one. The second I pulled off the lot the noise was still there. I am back here today to have the part replaced and rechecked for the noise. The service manager said an announcement just came out in regard to this problem and parts are being delivered to dealers today. He also mentioned an emissions issue with the 2.0 but did not elaborate on what.

"Dealer prep" is hit or miss, in my experience. No mfr should depend on that.

The post rotates, adding or removing length of the overall bumper.
