Kia K900 and Stinger Sedans Recalled Due to Fire Risk

I thought I read somewhere that there have been 6 documented engine fires due to the faulty oil line. Just going off memory which isn't great anymore. My car is stock and it just seems overkill for me to replace this line since I only have 12,000 miles on my 2019 but I guess I have to get it done to retain my warranty. At least the engine doesn't have to be removed which was the rumor for a while.

Pretty sure the warranty has nothing to do with it as older cars get recalled all the time. I don't think you'll void the warranty by not doing it. Not 100% on that though.

At first, replace at 200,000 km (120,000 miles) or 10 years : after that, replace every 50,000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months

So if I'm at 70k now and they swap my coolant, I assume I'm still good until 200k and don't need to do it at 120k and 170k to maintain warranty?


I stopped in at my dealer today (Woodstock). They have about a dozen stingers for regular customers. Their first recall work is scheduled for next week. Service advisor said the tech is very confident since he's done a bunch of feed pipes on the optima engines, admittedly different from the 3.3. They expect to do most of that dozen in the next couple months. @Licorice

At least they were able to grace him with a decent loaner. Every Kia should have a bunch of EV6 lying around considering they don’t sell. Makes great advertisement if you ask me

I just got off the phone about an unrelated repair, they mentioned the recall and that it would take an entire day to fix the oil supply line

Seems like some dealerships don’t have a problem performing the recall in ~3 hours and under… Some are breaking multiple other parts while performing the recall over a week now and some are taking a whole day. Promising.


We need to start dropping the names of the dealerships that perform the recall right.

Got the recall notice for mine. Always a little uneasy heading to the dealerships. Every time I've been unfortunate enough to need to go to a dealership for anything, it's been remarkably unpleasant across I think it's now six dealerships in three states. Just flew by 96,000 miles on mine. However, I think I'll be ready to move on from the car around 130,000 miles depending on how life goes.

@clemson85, where in SC are you? I saw in one of your posts you mentioned I-20 and a new dealership in the area. Any chance you're the bright orange GTS I see around the CSRA? If so, have any feedback about the "new" Stokes Hodges location? I haven't had my car there, but had a mildly unpleasant time ordering a part to install myself a year or so ago.

got my recall notification. tucked the envelope by the dictionary on my computer desk so that I can see it and won't forget. not acting on this unless something starts to manifest, like drops of oil on the carport. in over six years my GT1 has not dropped any fluids other than condensation from the air conditioning once in a while.

People are leaving their cars at the dealership for extended periods for this recall. WTF. Its still driveable.

Yep that is me. I live in North Augusta. I am talking about Stokes Hodges KIA. They just hired the service manager and service writer I used for years at the Aiken Chevy dealership. I am gonna schedule mine with them once they get some Stinger recalls completed. I have seen a black Stinger off of I20 frontage road. is that you? Also Justin Hartley is the service writer to talk to at Stokes Hodges. I also have a friend that lives near me with a Ceramic Stinger getting his recall done at Stokes Hodges.

Black one near I-20 is probably me, though I've seen a handful of others in town over the few years I've been here. I'm also in NA, off Martintown near where the Greeneway bridge crosses. Small world. I work in Columbia now, so I feel like I'm always on or about to be on I-20. Thanks for the names. Will maybe give em a call in a couple weeks.

Hello. I received my letter two days ago. I just came from the dealer on today (Lou Sobh Kia in Cumming, Georgia). The Service Tech said that they've already done two. The bad part was when he said they had to lift the engine to do it and that it's an all day job and that per KIA I'd get a rental. I told him that the paperwork states 3 hours or more. I am not comfortable with them lifting my engine. I don't trust the dealers that much. However, they are the experts. I have a pampered 2019 GT1 with 33K and paid off. Don't want any issues appearing later. I shall update the forum upon me reverifying the procedures on Monday.

Dealership that I usually go to have already done a few stingers and they told me that they don't drop the engine, which is good, but like everyone else it'll probably take the whole day, and the dealership I go to is at least is pretty busy and first appointment available for me to get it done is on the 28th
