Kia K900 and Stinger Sedans Recalled Due to Fire Risk

It actually does, you can see the reflective sleeve, almost touching the top right corner of the turbo heat shield. I tired to check mine but it's too tight in there, need a dental mirror or something to see under the double tube above it.

I too am waiting to see what the replacement procedure looks like. I'm assuming they attack it from under the car as you can barely even see this line from the engine bay and there is a lot that would need to be removed to access it from there.

Definitely will not be the first customer to book my car in for this replacement. My recommendation to everyone is to wait until your local dealership has mangled a few cars before booking yours in, unless you are certain yours is leaking.

I could barely just see it with a dental mirror. Easiest way is to reach under the two black double tubes by the turbo heat shield and you can feel it with your fingers.

NO BLOODY WAY you're getting to it without either dropping the engine or disassembling half of it, that line is tucked under there like a can of worms.

Good call waiting it out for some guinea pigs, anything to improve your odds at the kia dealerships...

I haven't been on the forum in months, but a premonition told me to return tonight and I saw this. Are you guys trying to give an old lady a heart attack? I started reading the earliest posts and nearly lost it when I saw "drop the engine." Then I skipped to the recent posts and calmed down—but just a little.

No letter yet, but yes, mine (a 2018 bought in 2017), brings up the recall notice on the portal.

Given my ridiculously low mileage, I'd like to wait a while until someone local to me reports how their work went. I'm halfway between Covina Valley Kia and Kia of Cerritos, so if any of you get the recall work done at either of them, let me know if you're satisfied. I prefer CVK, but I'll travel if I have a good reason.

This is only the second. The first was for another fire risk, insulation around a bundle of wires, an easy fix. Other than that, no problems.

Mine just showed up on the Kia portal as needing the fix. 2022 with a September 2021 build date. I thought I might skate by with the changes made in August 2021. Nope.

My 2018 showed up for recall too. Saying it would take 3hours or more. Not doing it. At least for now. Edit: went to Kia of Mentor today to order serpentine belt. And on my way out stopped by service department to ask about that recall. The guy told me, they've done several of them, and his technician would need 1.5-2 hours with the car to do it. And obviously, the engine won't have to be removed.

The recall just showed up today on the NHTSA site for my 2021 GT1. No letter in the mail yet. I will also be waiting.

I had my car in for service, a U.S. 2020 stinger gt 3.3t, and the dealer said the car needed the recall work to replace the oil feeder hose and pipe. The work took three hours so I am pretty sure they did not drop the engine or anything that major.

Well, I'll admit that I was a bit wrong about the RS5 vs Stinger GT1. Car & Driver got 3.5 sec 0-60, 4.4 sec for the Stinger. I would say that the Stinger might have been better represented by an AWD Stinger as the RS5 is AWD.

I'll pass on a comment from my neighbor. He has an AWD Stinger GT1 and a 2023 C8 Corvette. He says the Stinger is stronger on the low end. Don

The race was done in Ontario. The Canadian Stingers are all GT Elite trim, we have no other choices. All options, including AWD, included.

Also now listed for the March 1 2024 oil feeder hose recall. I will also be waiting to see how dialed in the recall steps are being performed by the dealers. With the cruise control fuse issue a few years ago, a new fuse module was created that made the recall so easy to perform I was able to do it myself, versus the convoluted rewiring the original recall outlined. There is hopefully some similar shortcut here.

Although I plan to wait until I see smoke to get this one done, unless they come up with some super-slick way to do this without taking half my engine apart but i'm not as optimistic as I was with the HECU recall. That one I thought was idiotic from the start and posted about how a new multi-fuse would be much cleaner and then Kia saw the light and did that instead too.
