K&N drop in filter (3.3TT)

The factory panel is identical to the K&N version
The OEM is built like a K&N and oiled?

My experience with diverter-valve-equipped turbocharged cars is that a K&N replacement for a standard, OEM, panel filter is increased diverter sound.

Did you order a set?

Haha no worries. Regardless I think the whole point for me is to put the KN sticker on my car somewhere...lol

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I didn't remove the strut tower brace but I did crack the filter housing open a bit to peak inside and the filters certainly don't look like K&Ns'.

The color is not identical lol

Excited to see this comparison, if I can get a bit of a performance gain and hopefully get a better sound I'm gonna grab one!

Performance probably, Sound definitely not. I removed the front plate off of the airbox and gained minimum sound

Just compare when it comes in and report back
Why are you being coy about this? If it's a paper panel filter it's nothing at all like the K&Ns.

I was speaking about the surface area of the filter

That has nothing to do with what I originally said that you replied to. Of course there's no surface area change. It's a drop-in, panel-style filter replacement. I've been buying them for decades.

And yes, finally ordered.

Now kith... :p

I took the intake boxes apart the other day. No carb filter and the stock panel has a lot of surface area, no wire mesh either. The box is completely closed, The only way to get more noise is to either replace the system with a cone style such as the K&N typhoon or, Remove the intake front plate connecting the outside air ducking to the intake housing. I will have to take some pictures of this mod. I gained a little bit more turbo spool noise.
I just posted another thread saying that my old Turbo car had a part in the airbox that could be taken out to get a better sound. Please do post this mod because I am going to do it. I am going to remove my thread too.

Now kith... :p
Sorry, but the miscommunication was driving me batty. There was an implication the OEM filters were just like the K&Ns the way I was reading it. No harm, no foul!

Welp, K&N is refunding me some money. I paid $12 to get one day shipping instead of having to wait 11 days for their free shipping (seriously, 11 days K&N?! I've received packages from the U.S. to Afghanistan in 5 days! Yes, I'm an impatient borderline millennial).

Anyway, K&N didn't turn the package over to UPS until the next day. And UPS has rescheduled delivery twice!

They've agreed to refund the shipping charge and I guess I'll get the filters whenever UPS decides to play nice.
