Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Eh? Usually that means you take a needle, stick it in the spray nozzle and move it down a tiny bit .... I usually know them as being adjustable?

Hm .. I've read about a few spray nozzles, that are difficult to adjust after I googled it. I'd have to see what's reall yon a stinger first :/

Sounds painful

The nozzle might enjoy it. Fifty Shades of Spray.

Hm, odd. I'm not that engine savy ... is it a catalysator between the engine and the turbo? Thus restricting flow to the turbo?

Not sure how to translate this .. I guess the turbo or the entire engine can't handle the full flow?

But I'm confused by the asymmetry, if it's one turbo per 3 cylinders (or is it not?).

I didn't watch the video, but in general a catalytic converter is downstream of the exhaust and has nothing directly to do with the turbocharger system upstream. Catalytic converters these days are very free-flowing.

The 3.3TT uses two twin spool turbochargers. A better term would be (in my opinion) a dual step turbo. Each bank is separate and has 3 cylinders. Looking at only one bank:

The turbine wheel on the exhaust side has a graduated surface, one a smaller diameter than the other. Exhaust from one cylinder is sent to the smaller diameter surface of the turbo wheel. Exhaust from another exhaust is sent to the larger diameter surface of the turbo wheel. (The remaining exhaust is simply sent out the tailpipe.) By having two diameters, the turbine can react quickly on quick acceleration (large diameter) and with more force once the turbine spins up (small diameter).

One, is that video upside down or am I drunk?

Two, that is how you make 30hp with a DP.

I wonder if it's worth the $500 for a set though?

Would be much cheaper to have a shop remove the cats. Unless there are other restrictions in the DP.

Have they announced pricing?

Also I’m not sure an exhaust shop would do it for much cheaper. Trying to reuse the non round flanges with round pipe would not be easy (aka cheap).

Sorry to hear about the delay. In my case, we had a mix up on delivery day and I almost had to go home empty handed. I was absolutely crestfallen, lol.

The follow up
Bless you! Bless you! Bless you! So thrilled this level and quality and level of work is being done! THANKS!

Have they announced pricing?

The tuscanicustoms guy had Jun BL down pipes for sale. Price was just under $500 a couple weeks ago. I just checked his site and now they're nearly $700.

Everything he sells is grossly overpriced though so I'm sure they can be found for cheaper.

This video is a little deep for me too. I just want good sounding exhaust that’s not gonna make my kid go deaf sitting in the back seat

2 months with the car and I never noticed the multiple circular ridges in the center of the speedo and tachometer until the sunlight hit it directly. :D

I see you have the important gauges showing...

My wife's new Impreza has a similar chequered background that I also only noticed in the direct light. But I thought, "that's a nice touch." Subaru would never have bothered with something like that in the past. But they have a long way to go to keep up with KIA (even the non-Stingers). KIA's minivan is even impressive interior compared to what most might expect if they haven't been paying attention for a few years.

The question is - what are those critters in the textured area? Maybe they're Easter eggs Kia put there for grins.
