Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Few more discoveries this week....

If the auto-wipers are going fast enough the auto-headlights will turn on, even if its still pretty bright out.

If you have the ebrake on, seatbelt unbuckled, and try to put it in reverse, the car will tell you to buckle your seatbelt first before allowing reverse. (having troubles reproducing this but got a full warning screen about it this week, will try to snap a pic next time).

If you unbuckle your seatbelt, open the door, and leave it in drive.... the car will roll a few feet before automatically slamming the ebrake on. It then demands you put it in park then drive before you can apply throttle again. Found this out when I stopped in my laneway, unbuckled and popped my door to roll up to a marker on the ground.
Great discoveries! I quite dislike the last one. Benz is like that too it will slam the brakes on emphatically as you’re rolling back lol

In California at least, it is the law, if your wipers are on other than the intermittent setting, then you must have your headlights on as well. So it sounds as though it is doing what it should.
Not sure about other states or countries.

You actually DID this?!
I was in my laneway looking to stop on a marker, my ass firmly planted in the seat and foot feathering the brakes. Not like I'm doing kiki videos. I can hardly get out of the stinger while its sitting still, nevermind while it's moving!

Alright got a pic, applies to drive too. I was at the pumps and it was pissing rain so I tried to roll up 20' to go in the store. Nanny says NOPE! Buckle your seatbelt.

I would be more annoyed if I needed to drive with the hatch open (think large cargo) and I had to unpack everything to shut the ebrake off and try again.

I would never drive with the hatch open in the first place; talk about asking for subsequent rattle/clunk/thump problems.

HOW TO DISABLE SMART CRUISE AND ENABLE REGULAR CRUISE CONTROL
Page 5-94 of th manual -

1.Turn the smart cruise control sys- tem on (the cruise indicator light will be on but the system will not be activated).
2.Push the distance to distance switch for more than 2 seconds.
3.Choose between "Smart cruise control (SCC) mode" and "Cruise control (CC) mode".
When using the cruise control mode, you must manually assess the dis- tance to other vehicles as the system will not automatically brake to slow down for other vehicles.
When the system is canceled using the CRUISE button or the CRUISE button is used after the engine is turned on, the Smart Cruise Control mode will turn on.”
2022 gt-line without the upgraded stereo. The steps above do nothing to disable SCC. Pressing the distance button just changes the distance, even after several seconds.

Any way to revert back to normal cruise these models?

Turn cruise off. Hold the cruise control button for 3 seconds or so, should switch to normal cruise.

Indeed, you must have cruise control enabled but not active.
If it changes the distance, you have it active.

Active Sound Design turns itself back on from time to time. Not sure why, but I check it randomly and today it is off, but I had to turn it off last week again. Done this dozens of times now.

I didn't discover this: it was revealed to me. Buying 2020 GT2 AWD I had no idea (for 44 months, heh!) and have just carefully let the gas cap dangle. I feel like such a maroon.   (I wonder how many of my other vehicles over the years have had this convenience and I never knew. Not being a car guy is almost like being handicapped.)

My 2015 GMC p/u has a tab on the inside of the fuel door to loop the tether over.

Heh yeah a ton of cars have had that feature for years now. Also a lot of people don't realize the little arrow under your fuel guage points to the side of the car that has your gas door on it.

One of your cruise control buttons says "res" on it which allows you to resume the last speed you had set for cruise, but this feature only works during the drive and resets when you turn the car off or turn off the cruise control function during the drive.

The ambient lighting colour can be changed to a ton of different colors if you cycle through your options in the cluster if you didn't already know that.
