Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

That would be one epic trip..

The Trip A & B computers only go up to 9999.9 miles and then stay there...

On all my other cars, I usually use A for "this tank of gas", B for "this oil change".. So, that's ok with me.

I'm assuming there's some kind of "elapsed trip time" timer (don't have a Stinger yet, am hoping for this month, just need to find the time!)? Does it reset as soon as you turn off the car? That's one nit I have with my Subaru - it resets as soon as the ignition goes off. With my VWs, it reset after ~2 hrs of off time. That was really useful for "how far I've driven today" including stops for gas, food, etc..

Wondering why certain doors are locked at random times from the outside?

Depending on which auto-lock and auto-unlock features you use IF turn the car off it will change to Park but all the doors remain locked. You can get out by pulling your lever (will unlock just that door) .
If you press Park before turning off the car all doors will unlock (if you use this feature).

I dont know if anyone has shared this already... when using adaptive cruise control (aka smart or active cruise control in other countries)... you set your cruise speed to your current speed by clicking down the right most lever on the steering wheel. But when you click it upwards, it sets your speed to the last successful cruise speed you have set.

Yes, that's why it has "RES+" marked on the button. "Resume" or increase (+).. The other one is "SET-" - to set a cruise speed, or decrease (-).. Every vehicle I've owned or driven in the last 30 years was that way.

Swear my Optima Trip mileage went to 5 digits but can’t remember for sure.
Holy crap! You upstaged me, you scoundrel. What are the chances!? Well, here's my discovery pic, taken just today on the road.

And here's my granddaughter's discovery: the little covered holes in the back seat. Of course, these are for stuffing French fries, jellybeans, popcorn, chewed gum, Lego, pennies and anything else the little agents of entropy can think of; thus rendering the child seat attachment points useless until a responsible adult can clean them out! (My granddaughter is old enough to not do that, but young enough to enjoy thinking about it.

Apologies.. I'd assumed standard cruise control buttons were the same world over. Never imagined it was something new down under.

Not here it doesn’t, they are the GT rims and only available stock in staggered 19’s. The 330S and 330Si come as stock 18’s and have a completely different pattern on the rims.

I have no idea why they called them GT, GT1, & GT2 in US & Canada, it’s too bloody confusing.

So to summarise the GT in Australia is what you Yanks and Canucks would call GT2 and it only comes in 19’s
Sorry mate no GT2 in Canada. We have the Limited, which has goodies the US GT2 doesn't.

So I just discovered this morning that once the boot (trunk for those in America) is open if you hold down the boot release button on the key fob it will close it for you too. I’ve always just used the button inside the boot to auto close but pushed the key fob this morning just to see what happened and found another interesting discovery. Sorry if it’s already been mentioned in the other 880 posts before this one.
Not sure about those in "America" but our Stingers in Canada have neither a boot nor a truck. Ours are actually equipped with a hatch. So here in Canada us Canadians can be seen "popping the hatch" to retrieve our stuff in the back. Depending on the time of year you will notice the Canadain male most likely will pull out a set of golf clubs or a large rectangular shaped canvas bag containing hockey equipment and a couple "hockey sticks". Yes we are a strange bunch here, particularly on the Wet Coast.

I resemble that comment !

I needed to screen my eyes from sun dazzle while backing into an end stall and trying to get just the right distance from the curb. So I moved the sun shade over to the driver's window. When I went to put the sun shade back into its retaining clip, it wouldn't fit: and thus I discovered that it has an extension shaft. If any of my other vehicles down the years ever had that facility, I never "discovered" it. :P

Is there a way to remove preset radio stations from the menu? I added XM stations as a preset and now the free year is over and I want to remove them.

Not sure if this has ever previuosly discussed.... Heads up display speed changes to italic/slant font in Sport mode. I just noticed this yesterday. Kind of odd, and unnecessary.
Thanks for that, I thought it was my old eyes playing tricks on me...lol.
I will test that out on the way home this afternoon.

Today I learned that for the parking sensors to go off when you're pulling in the button light needs to be on. For the longest time I just thought they would only turn on after backing up. Hate how inconsistent the buttons are. (like how idle stop and go is OFF when the light is on.

Be aware at least for me when the light is on the sensors are always on so when you are stopped at a light and your sensors go off for no reason you know why. I'm told they are overly sensitive and pick up everything slopes in the road and ghosts that are not there.

Yeah, I discovered this through experimentation. But it took me longer to realize that a light "On" does not necessarily mean that the function is on.

A few times when sitting at a light and my auto start kicks back on I see an error message pop up on the gauge cluster screen for a split second. Anyone know what that is?
