Installation of Mirror with HomeLink and Compass

That's awesome. I want to try that.

So does they just fit on the connector? Just need to slide that piece in between pin 6 and 10?

Yes, just slides right in to the slots on the harness/connector - no cutting, tapping, splicing or modifications needed at all with the harness or wires. It's basically a jumper wire. The key is filing or sanding down the side for the 6 pin so it can slide in, this also provides enough pressure to keep the jumper wire in place.

It's not drawing a lot of steady current like for a headlight or a fan motor, only for the few seconds you press the buttons. Though looking at the wiring diagram it is pretty close to other lines including the ground wire so I may reconfigure it with better isolated splices to prevent the possibility of a short over the long run. At least I was able to verify which lines to connect.

I just installed the OEM Homelink Mirror into my 2019 Stinger GT (US). It is plug and play with no modifications to the original harness.

The OEM Homelink mirror only has 3 Homelink buttons on the front face, the are no other buttons (i.e. button to turn off autodim or compass) on the front. Buttons do not light up.

I saw someone post a pic of their GT2 Homelink mirror with 5 buttons on the front, that may be different than the OEM one you buy as an accessory, which is the one I bought and is plug and play with the original GT harness.

Just fyi since there's a lot of differences discussed in this post.

What mirror (part #?) did you use, what cost, and where did you purchase it? Most here are getting Ebay mirrors for less than $100 to use and adapting as needed for the Stinger.

I got the J5F62-AU000 mirror from my local kia dealer, price matched to Kia Superstore online. It was about $240. More expensive, but way easier to install and no need to mod the electronics.

Note: no harness comes in the box, just the mirror and instructions. It is a direct plug and play with the GT harness.

I also upgrade my base GT rear mirror and follow @mandasol install method and it work like a charm. The rear mirror I bought from ebay was $55 and it came from a Hyundai Sonata, the button light up when the headlight turn on.

I also just installed the J5F62-AU000 mirror on my 2L Stinger. Fairly straight forward install, other than breaking off one of the clips on the plastic shroud trying to get it off

It is a direct plug in for the 2L as well, so just wanted to make that known. Just be careful with the plastic shroud... mine did go back on without issue, and it’s not “hanging off” by any means.. just only has 3 clips now instead of 4

Doing the same but my mirror was only $31.79

Soooo if we wanted to have the homelink on all the time (like my other cars) can we tap pin #4 instead of #6??

EDIT: nevermind we dont have anything in pin 4

The jumper wire is very tidy, can barely tell it's there.

That is super awesome! I'll give that a shot!
I actually did something very similar, except I put the jumper on the mirror side so I wouldn't be messing with the factory harness. It accomplishes the same thing. I used a staple that I wrapped with shrinkwrap leaving the tips bare to make contact with the metal. Once I verified that I had made a good connection, I replaced the mirrors plastic cover which hides the modification.
