Yeah not surprising based on only the Aussies are driving it in the heat of summer. I imagine once it is summer in the northern hemisphere we will see a lot more complaints.. which is to bad, I'm guessing that will be too late for Kia to change the 2019 model car...

Good for you. That's faster than the car's stated limit. Impressive.
How did the car handle at that speed?
Did you give the engine a chance to cool down properly after the run? (They say it's good for the turbos )
Thumbs up!
Cool down is a must.
Lubrication of the turbo stop immediately when the engine stops...
Warm up of engine oil at start is also important for lifetime of the engine.
Handling is very good.
No problems,hopping or so.
It's like driving just 100km/h...
It runs on 18" Michelin PA4 wintertires.
Hi Tom, very impressive!
As our newly nominated high speed road tester, could you put some keys or something similar into the cupholder and after your test run see if they are warm to the touch.
My dealer thinks there could be some warming because of the exhausts in the centre tunnel and I can feel it when driving at much lower speeds than you!
If it is not a general issue, perhaps it is specific to my car?
Ok, got a message back from my dealer, excellent customer service.
They think this is to be expected as the catalytic converters run in the tunnel. I had been giving the car some beans so maybe hard running exacerbates the issue?
They have offered to check the car if it becomes a concern. More to follow I am sure.
Please let us know as i have a definite heat issue. Drove the car 200ks today into cooler climes. Still red hot heater pipe. Love to here what you find out. My dealer is going to wait in case im a " One off"
No its red hot it left my skin bubbled up and scared. And its like that within minutes of driving. And thats from touching below the carpet for maybe half a second.

My dealer did indicate it was probably poor insulation and likely a cost cutting problem. I said there is no insulation. When the car was handed over by the dealers assistant fumes from the scalding carpet had her go home ill. At the time i wasnt aware of it until my next visit.
It’s a fault and they have to fix it as it’s dangerous. Dealer is an ass if he says wait to see if it’s a one of, jeez. Get them to lift carpet and see the damage that’s already probably there. Did this occur with heater running?

No heater was not on, being a dickhead he said run the AC to mask it!! I surprised there haven't been others. You just ignore it, the heat warms your left leg whilst driving. I will say the fumes died down after about 2 days. I might get an independent view from a mechanic this week. Thanks for alerting our international friends of this ☺
Hi, Just running in my car (500 miles) but I have noticed the central transmission tunnel gets quite hot.
Keys left in the cupholder can get very warm.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it to be expected with RWD?
Cheers,
There appears to be no heat shield directly above the catalytic converter only on sides of transmission tunnel. Get some heatshield mat off eBay and stick to body above it, should do the trick. I only have pics of underneath from the net to go by as I don’t have my car yet. Let me know how you go.

Thanks for the information. Just looked at Jonnytig's thread, some nice photos from directly underneath. Seems to show heat shielding inside the tunnel above and around where the cats are.
If problem persists will get my local dealer to investigate rather than DIY fix!
