FAQ: Vibration under braking: warped rotors? NO!

Depends on the dealership and how Corporate is feeling that day...

My brake problems started at 3000 miles and continued into 6000 miles. Took them five repairs over the course of six months. Pretty comical. (it did not cost me a thing though - besides my time of course)

As everyone else has suggested either have them replace everything with the European parts or go with aftermarket... my problems finally went away when they replaced the pads and rotors with Euro-spec parts.

Good luck and yes keep us posted!

P.S. - this is a very common problemo that almost every single Stinger with the factory Brembo setup will experience... some get it more than others and some have the problem recurring more often than others... good luck!
That's exactly right - my dealer(s) won't honor TSB, etc. Won't do the work. Other dealers are happy to replace rotors.

are you saying 58101 J5A55 will fit the stinger 3.3 and solve the issue?
As far as I am aware, and can tell from research, we have the exact same brakes.

The Kia front pads we are having issues with is Part # 58101-J5A51 Front and 58302-J5A50 Rear
Just an FYI, the G70 front pads # 58101 J5A55 rear pad # 58302 J5A55 are not a good KIA part # .

Contact corporate, create a case number, and document everything. That's why a lot of members (myself included) had to do. Good luck friend!! :D

Well - today - at 59,706kms (almost at the end of my brake warranty) - had my 4th full set of replacement disks installed for free - again... and this will be the final free set - Now it's REALLY time for me to install aftermarket pads.

Not even a debate or argument - I reported brake pulsations, yet again - they confirmed
They claim to have measured run out as 0.0015" front and 0.0030" rear (maybe they did measure this time - can not confirm).
Service advisor notified me my pads are low (less than 3mm all around) and tried to sell me replacement OEM pads - to which I pleasantly declined.
4 new rotors approved without any hassle whatsoever - other than having to bring my car to them.

My car's brake rotor history:
1. car came with rotors (OEM) - new car
2. first replacement at 10,320kms - all 4 rotors replaced (warranty approved)
3. second replacement at 23,774kms - all 4 rotors replaced (warranty approved)
4. third replacement at 39,905kms - all 4 rotors replaced (warranty approved)
5. fourth replacement at 59,706kms - all 4 rotors replaced (warranty approved)
Would not wish that on anyone! I hope I don’t have to go through that! My first Kia so I’m very impressionable

ugh this scares me... since my car is at less than 6500 miles... had to bring the car in 5 times to fix the problem... it was resolved (at least for now) with Euro-spec parts...

Do you see the issue? Keep doing the same thing under warranty (because that's all that Kia will do) expecting/hoping for different results: and this even after reading on here numerous pages of posts describing the same thing! o_O Why keep wasting time and equanimity just because Kia will replace rotors? Four times?! What good is that? Just do what you did, finally, and go with pads that won't leave deposits on the rotors. I can see swapping out the OE rotors once and starting fresh with aftermarket pads. Nothing else makes rational sense to me.

Another thing that I've seen on here a few times: the move to take advantage of the brake warranty before it's too late. Why? Almost as if creating a bigger problem early will be more satisfying than having little or no problem at all. Heh.

I see what you're saying. 100%

For me though, they did not choose to replace the parts with Euro-spec until the fifth time... I will admit... the fact that after about 5 months of ownership and 3000 miles the problems began... I did feel rather "salty" having to go and buy aftermarket pads/rotors/etc and have it swapped at a local shop I trusted... I also (because I was ignorant) didn't know much about this problem at the time... so I figured that since I purchased the car less than half a year ago... why not bring it into the dealership?

The first visit fixed the problem then 10 days later (not exaggerating) and less than 300 miles it happened again. Brought the car in. Had it fixed the same day. A month passed and it happened again. And then again. Etc...

I was given conflicting information from corporate and the dealership. One visit they resurfaced rotors... another visit replaced pads... another visit pads and brake kit... another visit both pads and rotors and alignment... finally they replaced everything with Euro-spec parts and it went away (at least for now).

I think the problem is that there are different options under warranty. The first four times they replaced parts that were not the right parts but it was done under warranty. The fifth time they got the green light to use different parts (since technically Euro parts are not "OEM" for the USA market) and the problem went away.

But yes, I agree with you, it is a bit much. I agree with what you're saying.

Can you confirm the part numbers they used?

The Kia part numbers for the front and rear Euro brake pads as previously reported on this forum are; Front Euro pads = J5H90-AKA55 and Rear Euro pads = J5H90-AKA56. Both these part numbers show up on some on-line Kia parts websites run by dealers. Just search for Kia parts.

So thought I would provide update funny how dealers just don’t buy into the betting process think all the cars are getting abused LOL my daily driver gets treated like a baby. Anyway said rotors had accumulated rust spots causing the vibration called it lot From sitting too long or another symptom of the Covid pandemic and working at home! Too much rust on the rotors not driven enough?
