It's funny how we got to "optimized exhaust tips", yet we all know they are only for the looks and nothing more. Hint, look at Mazdaspeed 6 and Lexus IS F. All had fake plastic looking exhaust tips.
The front is done. Whiteline is being total ass... seriously they are sending one piece to me at a time. What a crappy joke that is... Waiting on a last piece to arrive as a rear sway bar.
Not really a guide but if you are getting large round tips 89MM outlet carbon fiber ones like these you'll need to trim a bit from the top and bottom. Best thing to do is see how they fit and trim a little a time with a Dremel. I went overboard and ended up not using round tips because they still made contact with the diffuser and caused vibrations. The red shows where I had to trim with a different exhaust that's shown, and it will be different for everyone anyways.
You could also get a smaller outlet like 76MM and not have to trim the diffuser at all. Doesn't look all that good imo though.

This is why I recommend the oval tips. They don’t require any trimming so they don’t rub on any part of the diffuser. They are also about the same outlet diameter as stock so look good.

I’m about to do the install this week on the 89mm round tips.. the only thing I’m actually worried about is the vibrations and the impact it can have on the car. And also if these tips heat up the surrounding area enough to melt/warp paint.
im probably just being too hesitant haha

When I had the 89MM rounds installed on the MBRP, even with the trimming of the diffuser they were still wedged in there. Taking a look at the back of the vehicle on startup, the exhaust tips do not move but the bumper sure did. At certain RPMs the vibrations made it seem like I had an aftermarket subwoofer slapping in the hatch. It made for a noisy (too much for me anyways) cabin.

I would say try it anyways, you may have a better experience than I did. I liked how the larger round looked more than the ovals. Also if you are getting the faux carbon fiber 89MM rounds you don't have to worry about heating/melting.
I have the 89mm tips, trimmed the holes and while there is still some contact, I don't get any noise at all. I've had the exhaust since the beginning of Feb.

Correct. No vibrations, no 'rattles' of any sort. If there is, perhaps those people need to trim more. While there is some touching/rubbing, it's very minimal, nothing enough to cause noise in my opinion.
Why do you want to weld them on? That would mean that you would have to cut your exhaust in order to remove it. The clamps work just fine as long as you tighten them well enough. I've ran 3 sets of tips now and haven't had a single one loosen up on me.
