Exhaust Tips

I have just fitted the xforce/varex system to the stinger... the exhaust does not go all the way to the tips.... and the drone is horrendous.. im thinking the akrapovic tip may be the answer to fix the drone.. it is a 2.5ich pipe through the end.. what size in and out would you recommend for these akrapovic tips ? Thanks

I just saw a report of melted exhaust tips during high speed driving. Anyone else?

LOL! That’s unbelievable. Mine have never even been warm to the touch.
The guy says it occured during 150mph highway cruising.

Well he’s lucky it only cost him 4 exhaust tips then.

Look at the rest of the car has probably never been washed either.

That splintering looks like fiberglass. Those are real carbon fiber? That shouldn't happen.

They’re not real carbon fiber. They’re cheap tips from AliExpress.

ok, read through 29 pages of this thread and everybody is talking about removing or loosening the exhaust to get to the tips. wouldn't it be easier to just remove the rear bumper to access the tips, since you do have to Dremel the hole slightly, that way you can add the tips without loosening the exhaust or am I not getting the reason for the exhaust to be touched.
Why would you be using a dremel? You don't need to do any modifications with the correct tips.

Not mine

So they are not 100% carbon fiber, but that is to be expected. Even BMW M performance CF parts are not 100%, its a mix with some other kind of composite.
If these were 100% CF they would cost 5x more.

The only real CF ones might be the Borla tips and even with a discount they're $800ish

LOL, not if done right. Borla provides wrong sized clamps gotta do a little custom work on them and you'll have no issues.

For $800+ they should come with titanium clamps that install by telepathy.

Agree, but sometimes you have to circumnavigate these little issues. Trust me I sent a professionally yet stern worded email to Borla and all I received was a typical, "we'll look into it" reply. Do I love the way the tips look on my car? 100%. Would I recommend them? Probably not.

I'm noticing some AK tips on installs are sticking out further than others. I'm assuming this is mainly a function of how far back you are slipping the tips on the tailpipe?

The round ones are harder to slide back as that requires more trimming so those usually stick out further.

The oval ones fit without trimming and you can slide them as far in as you want. I have mine at about the same spot as the stock tips.
