Images for an earlier discussion point... for "connecting" aftermarket muffler to the oem tips
[this was my fix that actually eliminated my cabin drone, might help others]

What material did you use? And link?
On MUFFLER plates;
12mm EVA foam rubber (sticky-backed) on the muffler plates... at local hardware shop

On OEM tips;
18mm door seal pinchweld (outer tips) & 26mm pinchweld (inner tips), as the gaps to the plates differed... sourced off ebay

Too bad the OEM tips can’t be removed through the diffuser to avoid having to drop the muffler. Sounds like there is a bracket preventing them going through the diffuser. The Borla tip barely enters the OEM tips, therefore one might think the tip could push back over the pipe and then be fanagled around it, but since no one has done that it, probably not possible. I’ll take it back to the muffler shop that installed Borla and have them drop it.

Can I ask what tool you used to trim the diffuser openings? I was thinking of marking a consistent offset with a compass, then using a Dremel cutoff wheel, and cleaning it up with some sanding.

I have the oval Akrapovic tips, but the exhaust isn't perfectly aligned so it rubs just a bit. I have a few random rattles now and then, wondering if this would help eliminate them.

I used a $50 plastic dremel, mainly have to trim the top of the diffuser for the two inner tips, the others were shoved in. No rattles.

I’m looking to buy those exact style tips except oval due to community reviews. Did you by any chance drive with the CBE with stock to know the difference these tips made to drone/cabin noise

with your set up there is no drone, the new tips you put there is just for looks it wont do nothing! Cause i have the same set up before and changed the tips for looks. If you have aftermarket CBE then the tips would help.

they do look good ! I had x89 and trimmed only a little bit

Bump anybody know the diameter of the oem exhaust outlet? Without the tip. 2" or 2.5"? Thanks

ok, read through 29 pages of this thread and everybody is talking about removing or loosening the exhaust to get to the tips. wouldn't it be easier to just remove the rear bumper to access the tips, since you do have to Dremel the hole slightly, that way you can add the tips without loosening the exhaust or am I not getting the reason for the exhaust to be touched.

Trust me itll be a lot easier to just remove the exhaust. It's a matter of preference. I didnt feel like unhooking any of the wires. I just took an exacto knife to the exhaust cutout and it came out like bottle lol.
