Exhaust Tips

75x105
but I think I should have gone for a smaller size
I get a sort of rattle at idling 620RPM, I think the tips are hitting the bumper at that engine speed.
Why did you feel that you had to trim with the 75x105 ovals? I used the same size and they fit fine without any trim. There is some rubbing of the clear when the exhaust expands, but that's mostly due to the exhaust not being perfectly lined up. TBH tho it doesn't bother me, especially for $25 tips.
I must warm the community:
Tips may reduce the drone, but they change the note of the exhaust, thing that I didn't really expect.
To be honest the exhaust sounded better before doing the tips, both valve opened and closed.
Now it sounds different and louder on the outside, quieter inside (not speaking of the rattle because it is probably an easy fix).
So if I could speak to my past self before ordering the tips (or to anyone in a similar situation) I would say: Only do it if you can't live with the drone!
In conclusion I am a little bit disappointed right now but I couldn't do much testing, so I will update my opinion after more driving.
I don't think I experienced any change in exhaust note. The tone should all be coming from the resonators/mufflers/x-pipes on the system. I was definitely looking for it to sound "louder on the outside, quieter inside", so perhaps it's a preference thing. I love hearing the exhaust with the windows down or when having fun, but the loud reverberating inside the car during normal driving was a turn off. Guess I'm getting old :p Plus I've driven too many shit box cars with zero sound insulation that the change to a new, higher end car with a quiet ride was such a joy.
Damn I wish u would have installed them 2 days ago cuz that’s when I bought some. Oh well I’ll guess I’ll just sell them
Don't worry too much. It's an easy install/uninstall and exhaust note and drone are completely subjective. What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
 It takes Diff'rent Strokes. It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

I can't say for all exhausts and each individual will have different preferences.

In my case I find the reverberation to be louder with the tips on. Weird.

The exhaust always moves during driving so if you don't trim the bumper it will rub and make the car vibrate.

Thanks! You are correct, no cutting needed for these oval tips (105 x 75 mm). They fit through the stock openings with plenty of clearance.

Do you have a link?

Time to get in the "Way Way Back Machine" and go to a better place; a golden age of yesterday; all the way back to post #322 of this thread.

I didn't hear the rattle at idle speed today. Weird.
As for the sound I think it is okay.. I guess I am getting used to it.

But the drone didn't go away in the way that I expected. At 1500~2000RPM it is still SUPER LOUD especially in the rear seats, but the reverberation (usually peaking at 1750RPM) seems to be gone.
Without reverberation, even if it is not drone, per say, the exhaust sound being super loud inside then getting quieter past 2000 makes it FEEL like drone, because you want to get past that 2000 RPM to get a more enjoyable sound.

Borla had my wallet in a chokehold with their exhaust tips, so I got those to go with my Borla exhaust. Painful on the credit card, but no regrets as they look polished, big and menacing.

Ok so quick update!!!

My first impressions weren't so good but now I am glad I did the tips. At WOT the exhaust sound nice and I think that I got used to it now. More than anything the reverberation aka drone is gone. Overall, the cabin is quieter which isn't a bad thing, especially on long drives.
In my case since its an EVC, another difference is the sound when valves are closed. Before, I used to get a slightly deep exhaust note, not very loud but it was there and had a sporty feel, especially at low speed. I did like it, but it made my passengers notice the aftermarket and at times it I wish they didn't know. Now it is much quieter (INSIDE) that nobody can tell. At sometimes I do miss the little exhaust note at low speed, but now to think of it, it was probably vibration from under the car, and there are more times when I am glad it is quieter, like when I have non car enthusiast people as passenger. So I think the tips are a good thing, as the original purpose off the EVC was to have an OFF button for times I want to be unnoticed. Of course, outside of the car it is still quite loud, but sound that was just made from vibration of the underbody is gone.

Long story short, very happy! :)

After removing the stock exhaust and having a local exhaust shop fab up the muffler deletes as to my expectation, there was a horrendous amount of drone. I read numerous ppl talking about exhaust wrap, but I initially tried some exhaust extensions which brought the tips a little further out within the stock faux tips. That helped quite a bit, but drone was still noticeable. Bit the bullet and ordered the AK tips 51-105 carbon glossy. Quick deliverey from Ali, about 7 bus days. Just finished putting them on and it honestly reduces the drone by 90-95%. Nice deep tone that is only noticeable inside to say you have something done, but pretty quiet. WOT sounds perfect. Don't feel the need for anything else as far as exhaust now. Like the looks as well.

Looks good! Glad the tips took out the drone for you, too.

I’d honestly like to hear it. @Shades_of_grey Do you have a sound clip you can share?

What size of tips did you order?
How is the rest of the exhaust line? Do you still have cats and resonators?
I also would love to hear the sound, at low speed and WOT.

Anyone put tips on the stock exhaust? What kind of effect did that give? Just visual effect or also has an effect on the sound a bit?

I can only see the tips on stock exhaust being a cosmetic change.
No way that it would make the car louder. If anything it would be quieter than stock. Like EV levels of quiet.

Cosmetic only. I can speak from experience. It was still worth it for me because I don't care for chrome.

Shades - if I'm understanding correctly, I think you did what I want to do: basically an Axle-back (or muffler delete)...right? You still have the cats and resonators...right?

I would also like to hear a sound clip please

That is exactly what I did. I still have cats and resonators. Basically straight pipe from axle to a Y collector with 2 tips. Is there a secret to load a sound clip? I can't get it to load.. I'll try again later

Best way is to post on YouTube and share it here.
