Yves may be able to speak on it with more experience but the only negative on the brake snip mod in my opinion is the intrusiveness of it because you have to modify the wiring harness to block the brake signal.
Also, maybe it's figured out better now but it seemed like there was some issues with consistency with the brake snip mod when it first was discovered as sometimes the launches would be more aggressive than others. (The legend of the "beast mode" launch lol)
I personally went with a TCU launch control just because I'm not planning on going to the strip with my car. I just enjoy hurting peoples feelings on the street and the majority of the time that happens as a roll race. That and also I had some mild concern with physically "snipping" the brake pedal signal wire in my vehicle.
For me, the TCU launch is just good fun when I want to leave a stop light with some pizzazz...
P.s I'm not sure if you have a RWD or AWD model, but if you're RWD then Nathan from SXTH actually has the ability to set up an ECU launch control for you. With ECU launch, the car will use launch control same as factory but actually build boost/higher RPM. That to me is the ideal option but it's not something that he's been able to figure out on the AWD cars as of yet.
