EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

I'm back with my annoying timing problems. Terry had me disconnect the battery and do pulls from Map 1. Did 4 pulls with as much WOT as space and traffic conditions would allow at 3am but I finally have some better timing corrections. Ign 2-6 never went above 2.3 but consistently stayed at 0.8 during WOT. I don't know why my timing is so bad on other Maps. I'm still on half a tank of 93 octane mixed with E85 from a top tier gas station (BP)

drive around this weekend then take a log in map 1 and map 2 sunday afternoon. your ECU is still re-learning which is why you are seeing the 0.8's constantly.

I'll put about 100 miles on it or so before I go into Map 2. If all goes well I think I may just keep the BEF instead of going back to the Sxth tune. I guess I blew $450 to the wind

Well once dialed in, the Sxth tune is faster, but every car reacts different and some of the numbers you got may have been solved by a battery reset like you tried with Terry's tune.

Nathan was going to send me a revision that dropped the boost but that was a couple of days ago so I'll go with the BEF for now until we get it worked out. Nathan and terry have conflicted views on what is affecting what. Nathan feels the EWG wires permanently manipulate the ECU wastegate values and said he will not tune any car who's had EWG wires ever installed where Terry says it's passive signal under boost that he's never seen a problem before. I don't know what's going on but my timing is whacky with the Sxth tune which I did reset the ECU twice when I was using it.

hmm. Odd.

Could someone give me an overview of what SXTH ek1 setup has to offer? I read through about 20 pages and never gained a clear understanding on some points.

I have a 2021 GT2 awd that is my daily. Not looking for crazy performance that diminishes daily driveability.
It will get some basic mods - plugs, cai, catback, oil catchcan.
I was originally going to buy a JB4 (run 93 or E30) and a lozic TCU tune.

Does the EK1 pro basically replace everything the JB4 does now (with logging/data anyway; I know maps can't be changed on the fly like JB4)?
With the EK1 lite/pro I can use my oem ecu/tcu; correct?
If ecu/tcu flashed back to the original file will there be any digital trail for warranty work to be refused at a dealership?
When flashing the ecu/tcu files are there risks associated should those not flash correctly (like can the ecu/tcu be bricked essentially)?
Are the flashes made to the ecu/tcu set to just sport mode on the vehicle (I assume they are customizable anyway you want)?

Thoughts as a whole for a daily driver - JB4+TCU tune vs EK1 ECU/TCU tunes?

Thanks!

I would NOT get the Sxth tune if you have or plan on getting a JB4. There seems to be some conflict between both systems that need to be worked out. If you buy an EK1Pro device you can use it as a gauge cluster to monitor a lot more than the JB4 gauges can like oil temp, etc. It's powered through you OBD2 port. You can flash a TCU and ECU tune through the EK1 and you can flash it back to stock whenever you want. Flashing is easy and as long as you follow the instructions it will be fine. You can't flash to straight sport mode as far as I know, no tuner has that capability but you can have the ISG disabled and the speed limited taken off. Other custom features with Sxth are crackles and bangs if that's you like. Getting the EK1pro or Lite is a great investment because other tuners are signing on and creating BEFs or tunes for the EK1. I have the Jb4 with a Tork TCU and had no issues as a daily until I goth the Sxth ECU flash. BMS has a BEF flash for the JB4 that basically makes it a JB4+.

That is not true, The JB4 does not conflict at all with Sxth tunes, Unless you specifically installed EWG wires. If you never did, then its totally fine and can be run at the same time. No tune is perfect on the first go round (Yes, even the Lap3 tunes are not perfect on the first attempt, as much as they would have you believe) and they can work in tandom no problem. I can even use my EK1lite and JB4 at the same time because I run the JB4 off of my diagnostics port. It all depends on what this persons end goal is, Do they want to keep the Jb4 for its easy logging capabilities? or do they plan to sell it after they get the EK1 device? it all depends on really what you want.

If you plan on selling the Jb4, then it makes sense to get the full ECU/TCU Package and only use the EK to monitor it, however if you are going to only get a TCU tune and use the EK as a flashing device only, then keep your JB4 and get the EK1lite, as that plus the TCU tune will be cheaper than any other companies TCU tunes still.

Ok.

It seems redundant to have both the JB4 and Sxth tune, so I'll definitely just choose one anyway. It appears that Sxth is the new hotness and pretty much moving ahead of the competition at this point so I'm leaning their way at the moment...

It's not if you plan on running CPI like I am which is the whole reason to have both. Also the JB4 doesn't have ISG disable like Sxth does.

I just checked with the guy that use to be on these forums whose Stinger I bought to see if he ever had the EWG wires hooked up along with his jb4 and he doesn’t think he did so gambling on that when I go for the SXTH tune eventually. If that doesn’t work then I guess BEF and then Lap3 following.

Did the BEF with great results, timing now is in the 19 to 21 range. Slight improvement with the butt dyno, but most noticeably how smoother it is under WOT. As usual and since 2018 when I first got the JB4, Terry is always very responsive and great to work with. The pop/burble in the BEF is good as well, starts at the 2k range and is loudest at around 3-4k.

On a separate note, still haven't found a source for a TCU flash. I don't think this is something I wan't somebody to adjust as he goes or use me as the guinea pig, it will have to be somebody with an already tested TCU tune, so that would put N75 out of the equation I guess. I know Terry has this in mind so will wait on it, hopefully sooner than later.

Just use the sxth TCU flash, its simple to do, shifts fast and smooth. Ive been running it for two months now and have yet to have a single hiccup, from 0mph all the way to 145mph. Thats the fastest ive gone since its been installed. I like it way better than the Lozic TCU I had.

I'm already running a Tork TCU. I haven't researched to see if my TCU is now locked to Tork before I can flash the Sxth TCU. Do you know if it is?

Ohhhh. Honestly Im not sure. It may be able to read it but I have no idea if it will be able to write to it. Im not sure if I would try either as it may break something thats not recoverable. Ive seen pictures from tork taking the TCUs apart to mod the actual circuit board to tune them, so I really would not try it on that particular tcu. send nathan an email and double check though, he would 100% be able to get you a better answer.

Not sure if you read my previous post, I wish I could use Sxth, unfortunately he doesn't tune anything outside of the US.

My TCU ID is SCK0T33GB1, no files show up when I put that.

Oh that was you. Sorry about that. I read so much on here it blends together.

I wonder what the real differences are with the TCU ID's as well as the ECU ID's

my TCU is SCK0T33NH0

does the GB1 just go for the year or also the RWD?

mine is NH0, and i'm a 22 GT2 with AWD
