EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

If you buy a tune such as stage 2, do you get updates for free (or reduced cost) if they come out?
And good luck at the dyno! Please post the results.
Yes, All updates to the tune that come out will be free, at least so far.

Unfortunately, There seems to be some issues with my tune and the dyno runs didn't go as well as I hoped. Nathan and I are going to hop on a call to try and get to the bottom of the issues next week when he is back from vacation. I have tried several versions of the Stage 2 Tune and they are all currently having the same issues. I am also fairly certain that between myself, @AWDGT2 (Who doesn't have the issues, which points me in a good direction for what may be causing them based off of the features in his tune VS mine) and @Yves998 (who does have the same issue as I do, but does not have HFC's) it leads me to believe that I have a pretty good idea of what the issue might be. I have tried

Stage 2 High Octane +LC
Stage 2 Methanol (Includes LC)
Stage 1 TCU LC
Custom Stage 0 TCU+LC

and have mixed and matched them in every possible combo I could think of trying. If Memory serves, All of @Yves998 tunes have had the custom LC in them as well. @AWDGT2's Tunes, DO NOT have the custom LC in them, and his car is running fine. That makes me believe that something with the custom LC Maps is causing the issues. I wont be able to test this theory until Nathan gets back however.

Even more evidence that pushes me towards this theory, is that when I got my tune from them originally, I was seeing amazing stability in the entire run, from 0-140mph+

Then, I flashed the Stage 0 custom TCU tune, which is the OEM TCU tune, but it was changed to allow the custom LC to work. I tried it once, and wow. I was blown away. I launched on 5-7lbs of boost at 2600-2700rpm and did 0-60 in 3.4 seconds according to my JB4s logs, so realistically probably even quicker than that.

After that, I flashed the stage 1 TCU tune with LC and everything started going down hill. So at this point, I am fairly convinced that is the cause.

So, you can try any of the tunes you want, and if you have issues, they will be fixed, but for now I would only recommend the normal Stage 2 High Octane, or the Back end Flash, as I do not believe that either of those tunes have the custom LC in them.

For reference, I have a 2018 GT2, @AWDGT2 has a 2019 GT2, and @Yves998 has a 2022 GT2/Limited, So it doesn't seem to be exclusive to the newer cars which have the extra safeties built in.

I am also having issues with the TCU tune.

shift points are where they are supposed to be, but I have no launch control. Nathan has sent me a new file which turned it back on, but still doesn't work correctly. The car will build boost, then the rear tires let loose then stop, then spin again. never actually lets me launch it.

Also a new issue which started after version 1.02 is sometimes it feels like the car hits a wall, and won't shift to the next gear at WOT

Does your car make any kind of pulsating sound when you give it, say, 40-50% throttle in gears 4+ or when you are in a high gear and floor it without activating the Kick down switch?

Edit - Like this -

Lol. That might be the same launch throttle close problem that I encountered months ago. I asked for a TCU with all safeties/limiters removed to deal with that problem, I’ll report back to you if I have any success.

doesn't do that at all, but this is the launch control

Interesting. Mine does not do that at all, and did not when I had it working. Can you take a log of it and post it here so we can see what its doing? Also what kind of tires do you have on the car?

Here are 2 different ones. 1609 is just trying a quick launch. 1959 is trying to launch, moving a few feet, then trying it again.

Stock tires, which are about a month old

taking a look at the second one, your first launch got hit with the throttle close for sure, but it looks like the second one actually was launching like it was suppose to and you let off the pedal. does your car have all season tires on it? or the Pilot sport 4s? Cuz from what I see in the log, the first launch may have closed because of the wheel slip.

they are all season tires.

I let off the pedal as the tires started to spin.

That may be why in your case then. They just don't have the grip to stop them from spinning under the torque. What PSI are they currently at? cuz you may be able to lower it and get some extra grip to try it out.

Whatever map 3 calls for. As for launch it's the Stage 1, and not sure what he has that set to

No, I mean what is the Current PSI in your tires, it should be in one of the menus on your dashboard. Too much air can majorly effect the grip.

oh. 38 psi

The tires shouldn't matter if the brake is fully engaged during LC.

Drop that down to 32, See if it still does it, then try 30. any lower than that and you will probably throw the low pressure light. after you are done testing I recommend putting whatever it says on the door sill (Drivers side) back in your tires, and picking up a good set of summer tires, as all you will do is spin realistically on all seasons.

will try that today a little later when I get in and see if that works

brake is pressed to the floor, on top of that it was working before the TCU tune was uploaded. Tested with the brake snip, and the tires don't let go.

One would think so, but the more traction the car physically has, the better the brakes work. That's why if you try to use the brakes when the car is rolling on a lift (like if you where checking for a noise in the drivetrain for example) that they really don't stop the movement at all.

The torque is distributed through the drivetrain differently when using the brake snip, it distributes it like the car is already moving, whereas the Factory style LC distributes more of the torque to the rear of the car.
