3.3TT DIY intakes w/Heat shielding drop about 0.2sec off 0-60

So I use the bent elbows with mine... so how do I fix this wastegate issue ? Does it cause any problems ? Not like I can go to a dealer and say hey my aftermarket intake is sounding strange can you look at it haha .... I never heard it under stock box as you don’t hear the blow off sound
Do you have a sound clips? I had issues with my intake and it ended up being air escaping under pressure, one mechanic thought it was the wastegate, one thought it was the ECU not controlling the vacuum correctly, both were wrong, it was a bad worm clamp and weak silicone coupler. I switched to tbolts and new coupler and issue was fixed.

If your issue sound close to this it is air escaping under pressure somewhere, ignore title, not a bov issue, will change that.

Anyone have issues with the whoosh sound sounding strange sometimes ... I feel it’s the way the filter is with that cap there... almost like a spitting sound which is hard to explain instead of the regular blow off sound....

My personal opinion is there is nothing wrong. OEM intake hides a lot of that noise, they are designed to do that.

Once you put on aftermarket intakes you now hear all those noises that you didn't hear before. More than likely, its just the blow off valve. You might hear some wastegate flutter, but I'd assume that to be completely normal.

Bent vs. straight elbows/coupler should make zero difference IMO.

Agreed, more noise for sure but worth it for the response difference. Mine however was not normal:) I think the normal additional noise sounds good, u can wrap the hood and reduce some if you want.

I don’t know if the bent elbows make a difference, they just looked like it bent the OEM tubing & hoses too much in some peoples pictures so maybe different airflow characteristics. If you’ve never heard blowoff before it may just sound weird in general, or something is loose & air leaking may be the cause. Likely nothing to be concerned with though.

It sure doesn’t sound like the video ... it’s just the ppshhh sound that sometimes comes out weird ... but I also have burger intake that I need to powder coat and I’ll switch to that once I do that

thats normal when you remove stock airbox.

Just FYI, on Amazon, there's currently a $10 mail-in-rebate on the filters. Interestingly, it's from "K&N Engineering" - is Spectre made by K&N?

Also, for some reason, red is $5 cheaper than the other colors. After rebate, you can get one filter for around $10..

Spectre appears to be a division of K&N. Same address.

Those with the Spectre filters (or others with similar designs), make sure ones you use don't have the the little metal cap on inside of the filter (the piece that is at the base of the interior cone). That piece has been known to separate and get sucked into the turbo and destroy it. Since I'm a newb, I can't post links, but Google search "Spectre filter failure" images and you'll see plenty of examples.

As anyone had issue with them here?

Wonder if Spectre is any different from Summit Racing-branded filters in terms of quality? They have ones (without the internal divot/cap) for $13.99.

Is AEM considered a higher quality filter? What about Airaid or Volant?

I think I'm going to go with the 9130-style filters (flat top). The white/grey ones are currently $15 - that's cheap enough to throw away in a year or two and buy new ones, instead of messing with the re-oiling..

You have a 50k dollar car. Spend the extra couple bucks for a quality filter. That is not something you want failing. Yes AEM is a better quality filter.

Ok, so there's ALSO a $10 rebate for AEM filters.. ALSO from K&N - so does K&N basically make every filter? K&N, Spectre, AEM? What's left?

You’re right K&N, Spectre and AEM have the same phone number and address in at 1455 W Citrus St in Riverside. I’m pretty sure they’re all the same company and each brand is just a different line of filters. K&N being premium oiled, AEM with Dryfilter technology, Spectre being economical and caters to DIYers.

There’s also aFe filters in Corona...

Here's one post I saw with pictures (YMMV):
Spectre air filter destroyed my turbo.

No it wasn't, it was on a Buick. I'm just suggesting that you double check the build quality and that it's probably safer to have the closed top design vs the open top. Better safe than sorry.
