No mention of other colors at all, my brother got the blue one and we’ve been checking it out often for flaking. People I spoke with didn’t mention any other color, just sunset yellow
Any side comments on all the other colors having issues?

This is clearly a case of "If it ain't broke, don't mess with it", from Kia's point of view. They sold thousands of cars and continue to have good sales going forward. To blurb about paint would simply be inviting a bigger problem than there is already. It doesn't disappoint me at all that they have not said "boo" to the owners of other colors. Let them come forward with their issues as they may be. Kia will make it good. We are dealing with fallible people. So there will be dropped balls and closed cases that should stay open. Just keep after them, and the dealers, until your personal issues are resolved. And may satisfaction prevail!

So quick question, has anyone noticed chips on the fake vents on top of the hood? I've stopped counting the chips on my car, and stopped touching them up (as much as it pains me), since I'm just waiting like many others, but yesterday I noticed a chip on one of the fake vents, which is one of the only areas on the front of the car not covered by the clear bra. Like the other chips, it doesn't seem to have a directionality, some paint is just gone. I'll try to get a picture later.

I found this just under my hood vent and just aft of the clear bra (can see the seam on the edge...i think you are saying ON the actual hood vent?yellow hood vent.webp

If you opt to have the car repainted it gets a lifetime warranty as well, would make that a nonissue

@Mach_Tuck yes, on the actual hood vent. I'm having trouble determining where your picture is, aren't the vents black on all colors? Oh wait, you took the black portion off and that was underneath?

@cbing317 I have a Black Stinger, so far we haven't been treated as nicely as owners of Yellow *cough*, no lifetime warranty, buyback, nada.

As far as i know, nothing has been stated to US owners of a lifetime warranty with regard to repaint. I am certain those details will be in the letter yet to be sent. It is for certain on my list of questions to ask to determine the best route with the vehicle.

Yes, this is just under the hood vent. I noticed the edge of it using a flash light while checking for chips and then took the vent off and was very surprised at its full size!

@Mach_Tuck Have you checked under the licence plate? I seem to remember others earlier in this thread saying the paint under their licence plate was coming off too (I don't know why Kia doesn't give us some rubber gromets or some kind of spacer for it? Licence plate just lays right on top of the paint only held at the top). Sorry to hear about that under the vent. I haven't checked under any parts of my car since I've already confirmed chips on most surfaces.

After reading these threads, I decided to check out the front bumper of my Micro Blue GT2. I found a small area of peeling, like a teardrop. Took it to my dealer and they inspected it thoroughly. The solution being implemented is a brand new bumper, painted to match of course, is on order and will be installed soon. Thus far, this is my only paint issue.

Under my license plate is fine. Noticed no bumpers or grommets or whatever when got the car home first day and was disposing of the dealer plate cover (no free advertising from me). When putting the plate back on, i used blue tape all around my actual plate backing as well as added foam pieces to all four corners. No part of my metal plate is touching the actual paint at this point. I added extra foam near the top mount screws to help with compression.

Well! They didn't waste a single moment on your issue. Impressive.

How many miles on your Stinger? Most owners say the bumper is ok except for the headlight rub.

This is due to a headlight issue. The headlight rubs the bumper. I would advise not to replace bumper until Kia has a solution. This will just happen again.

Quite a few members have same issue. New cars on lot have same issue. KIA has not mentioned a issue/fix. Has to be on radar since they read this forum.

Yep, this is under my license plate........

Just an update on my black, I went in about a month ago to the dealership, then about a week later to their body shop to get estimate for the repairs,I had chips on both fenders, hood and rear quarter panel. A week went by and I never heard anything, so I called Kia hq with my claim number. They said they were waiting to hear from Kia korea to find out what is going on with our paint.
My dealership service guy mentioned the issue on yellow black and blue, I didn't hear anything till today. Today he called left a message saying they will repaint the area with chips, id get a loaner and it should take about 3 days.ill find out tomorrow the extent of the repairs.....
