Concerns - Popping/Creaking Noise from Sunroof

I had my car in twice over the last month for the sunroof issue. The "fixed" it by installing metal shims as they saw that there was a lot of pressure on the glass. Did it fix it? No. They now claim that it's part of the vehicle's design and works as intended. They said all the other stinger had the rattling issue as well...
What I gather from these forums is that there's a significant number of us that have had and still have the issue, even after having it looked at by a dealership. It's not an issue on the majority of Stingers though. It should be apparent to your dealer if they test drove another Stinger from their lot as a comparison.

I have a 2.0T Stinger Premium, about 8700miles on it. I noticed the creaking starting about a week ago. I've had a similar issue in the past (Ford Focus), and there were/are two potential issues with different fixes. If it's the glass creaking against the seal, then lubing the seal as others have suggested might help. If it's the headliner creaking, then the "fix" is more involved, but I just jammed some foam between the headliner and the roof in the sunroof opening, and that helped a lot. Will investigate this weekend and post up results. I had my Stinger in at the dealer yesterday, they noticed the creaking and called Kia about a fix, but I haven't heard back and I do NOT want to leave my car at the dealer for a week for something like this.

I have the same thing , report this to Kia USA and Kia Canada , your dealer wont have a clue , left mine for almost 3 weeks and they put 100 km on the car and wrecked , a wheel , a tire and the steering wheel , and the roof is no better than before !!!

You keep adding more dire details. 100 km on the car!? They were joyriding after work. Asshats!

You took it in for extraneous NOISES! A tour around the block would tell them all they needed to know. I hate morons who think they are smart and everybody else is stupid.

Very interesting. Okay, so I wonder if the "new" Optima (just released) still has the issue. I guess that would big news because they should fix an issue like that in a brand new model - at the very least being it's "all new". The Stinger is on another platform so let's see what we hear.

Two things to help with hope:

1. None of the South Korean or Australian owners have experienced this problem
2. Most people didn't experience this even when it was a problem for sure

There aren't a lot of them, period. But you strung out coastal dwellers in Aus run across each other with your Stingers more than us Yanks do. It is an interesting phenomenon.

Your right there mate,, just starting to see a few here and there popping up...
I'll keep u posted on the outcome after i take it in for its first 3000k check up.. fingers crossed
