In the meantime turn the music up LOUD! lolKia stinger GT
Going to call the dealer in the morning because the creaking and the rattling from the sunroof is driving me mad
Play Pop music & it will go altogether....In the meantime turn the music up LOUD! lol
Great! Thank you very much for letting us know...After applying the Bosch rubber grease (that's the only one we had in stock at work), I have eliminated about 80 - 85% of the noise coming from the roof.
You have to have the windows closed, radio on mute and listen carefully to hear it. It's a win in my book, but I still will mention it to the dealer when I go in for the first service.
Could someone who has dealt with this issue help me out...
could you be a bit more specific as to where they applied the grease?
Basically I applied the grease along all the rubber seals that directly make contact with the sunroof, so both sides front and rear.
On the same topic, I was doing a road test with the workshop manager from my kia dealer and I mentioned it too him. He said he had similar problems with the optima GT (from my understanding its the same sunroof). He said if you can apply the grease to the front seal mainly that should solve most of the creaking.
Tip for application on the rear seal. Don't open the roof, just pop it up.
Edit: if you need more assistance, I'll post photos to show where I applied it.
My take is that there too much chasis flex
It could be the rubber seals rubbing up against either the glass or something else. I would first try what Adzismad2 did and buy some rubber grease and apply the grease to the seals, especially the front and rear seals. It's inexpensive and could probably solve the problem, if it persists then definitely bring it up at the dealership or even try calling Kia's preferred customer line and opening a case with them.I have a GT1 that is about 2 months old and I have a creaking/crackling sound coming from the headliner. It sounds like a crackling sound that would come from an am radio station but i comes from the headliner. I think it is velcro that makes a noise due to the vibration from the road. It is very minor but highly annoying. I plan to see if the dealership can address when i take it in for the first oil change. Any ideas on a remedy?
Recently started hearing this noise louder. I first heard it about three weeks into ownership. I mention it to the dealer and they estated the whole headliner will have to come off and will take about a week. At that point I bailed and decided to live with it, but now it has gotten worse.
My take is that there too much chasis flex and the rubber is not sealing properly against the metal frame. Will try the grease and see the results.
