Concerns - Popping/Creaking Noise from Sunroof

Awesome! This is what I’ve been waiting for...an experience from a Stinger owner. Thank you for sharing. You were lucky with your Sonata. If you and many Stinger owners in Korea have had no noise issues from the sunroof I guess we can assume Kia has already resolved it.
Yes absolutely, the only issue I heard about the Stinger and it was at the very beginning, was that to demonstrate the launch control, some not so smart car dealer did keeping the launch control state with engine stuck at 2,000rpm and vehicle standstill for several minutes, this did resulting in over heating the engine.

I have a 2014 Optima SX Turbo
Yeah, I'm not all that surprised. Hyundai/Kia sunroofs had issues during those years. Even 2015 Genesis Sedans had the issue. I'm not sure about 2016 but probably. I know 2017 has had the issue rectified so I'm very confident the Stinger will be fine. We haven't heard about any complaints yet and the car has been on the streets (as mentioned) in South Korea and now in Australia. I think we're good! :)

Check out motor weeks long term review. They discovered the sunroof noises on the 2016 optima!

Very interesting. Okay, so I wonder if the "new" Optima (just released) still has the issue. I guess that would big news because they should fix an issue like that in a brand new model - at the very least being it's "all new". The Stinger is on another platform so let's see what we hear.

Two things to help with hope:

1. None of the South Korean or Australian owners have experienced this problem
2. Most people didn't experience this even when it was a problem for sure

I have owned 3 Optimas, 2012 lx, 2014 sx turbo, 2016 sxl and none of the sunroofs made any noise. The local Kia dealer called me to bring in the 2016 to tighten up some of the hardware on the sunroof as Kia Canada said this was a fix for noisy sunroofs. I have had my Stinger for a week and 700kms, so far noise free, and not expecting to hear any in the future.
Cheers,

Good to hear. Not everyone with a year that's had the issue - "had the issue". In other words, it wasn't every model. It was hit and miss. But it does appear the problem has been resolved completely in later models...

I have a 2014 Kia Optima SX Turbo and the pano roof makes so much noise that I'm beginning to regret the car.....I plan to take it to the dealer this weekend and see if they can fix it. I'm concerned because it seems that many have tried taking the car to the dealer and the dealer can't figure out the problem. Look up "optima pano roof creaks" and you will see all the results. It could just be that I'm part of a small unlucky group, but it seems way more common than it should be.

Also kia Cadenzas, sorentos and the new generation optimas have the issue.
I have the same car and luckily don't have that issue. Not that I've noticed anyways

I have a 2011 Optima SX Turbo and never had any issues or noise coming from the panoramic sunroof

No annoying sounds at all from the Stinger so far... and I've been driving fairly hard the last couple days. Interior is pretty silent.

I love hearing how the interior is silent. Great work, Kia! :) (and thank you, Lexus, for making this an important thing)

After a little over 100km with my Stinger, I played around with the Sunroof a bit and happy to report no undesirable noise being made. The cabin is fairly quiet, just like what others said.

Have a '13 Optima SXL. Was having a creaking problem in my pano, though small, drove me crazy. 1st attempt to fix, didn't work. Second did and it's awesome. Amazing just a little thing like that made it feel so much more solid and much more of a "premium" car. Not sure what they did but it was Willowbrook Kia in IL that fixed it. Think Ken was my tech

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference - and mean the most. I'm glad to hear you got it worked out. Man, so many Optima SXL owners here! Though I shouldn't be surprised. Great car!

I wish car manufacturers would make sunroof available as a stand-alone option but not exclusive to higher trim offerings. So we can just check or uncheck the box ourselves.
I know on most GM products it is. It was a stand alone, $900 option on my 2011 Avalanche LTZ.

I'm now at 4000 kms and the roads here are pretty miserable in the winter, apparently no budget for snow removal, still no noise from the sunroof with or without the interior panel open.

I had a Panoramic roof on my 2014 Optima Turbo SX, and I used it as often as the weather would let me. I have never heard anything from it or had any problems with it. I sure did love the "whooosh" of it opening when going down the highway at 40+. :)

I have a 15 Optima SXL and my previous was a 13 Optima SXL. Both had the panoramic sunroof. No issues with either. I play my music at max all the time. The whole interior vibrates and shakes but I have no rattles or creaks except from the sunshades I installed on the doors creaking against the glass during heavy bass. The sunroof doesn’t get used very often so that may be why but other than a slightly loose folding side view mirror I have been six years trouble free from both Optimas. And I must say we have terrible roads here so I hope that the Stinger holds up equally as well

The panoramic part is fixed so I doubt the issue is with that part anyways. More than likely the sunroof is just out of adjustment if it is constantly squeaking.

I had this issue on my Optima only when frame twisted when going up an incline driveway.
