Reading where?Been reading lately some saying "JB4 not as safe as ECU flash". I understand to be safe stay stock, but would love to hear opinions on this. Comments from developers welcome. Rob
Not a dev but the answer is simple. Same amount of risk with both. JB4 is a piggyback, and that means it "spoofs" signals to the ECU. By that I mean it lies. Say you have 16 psi but you want 20, so it "spoofs" the signal to read 12, and ECU will let the engine build more boost untill it reaches "16" psi. However 16 psi is actually 16 + 4 "spoofed" boost. So it's 20. Not really a big issue. Now if the boost signal continued to be "spoofed" you will reach 40 psi, and if the overboost signal was also "spoofed" you will get a blown engine. A tune just changes the tables, so if the boost is set to 50 psi, it will spool to 50 psi. The ECU won't tell you "don't put that value in there, you moron", so tuners have to know what they are doing.Been reading lately some saying "JB4 not as safe as ECU flash". E30 with JB4
I’m wanting to try Map 3 and 5 with an E30 mixI have been using map 2 with 98ron and the logs are good.I have the latest firmware installed but don’t have a
flex fuel sensor. Can anyone advise me on any user settings I need to change on the JB4?
BlueGT.
Thanks Terry. You know what I’ll be doing this weekendNope just add E85 mix, change maps in the app, and enjoy!
Should 98 octane be good for maps 3 and 5?Nope just add E85 mix, change maps in the app, and enjoy!
Yes. Higher octane is better.Should 98 octane be good for maps 3 and 5?
You need more than 93 octane to run maps 3 and 5 effectively.Yes. Higher octane is better.

I stand corrected. Just going by what terry@bms says.I'm running Sunoco 93 on Map3 with no issues, clean logs, smooth power.
I know some people are able to use map3 on just 93, but do you have any WOT logs showing no timing drops?I'm running Sunoco 93 on Map3 with no issues, clean logs, smooth power.
Also ExxonMobil 93 octaneJust installed JB4 fuel wires and harnesses and mobile connect. Connected mobility perfect. Took a short drive map1 horrible backfires half to full throttle. Didnt even think it was possible to log. Switched to map 0 runs fine.
Changed plugs gapped to .022 purchased bms kit. Installed all wiring connected to phone and took short drive.
Did I forget anything? Was I supposed to do anything else? Does firmware need upgraded figured it came updated
Any help? Thanks Rob
