• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Make sure you don't let the car sit at the same revs/load as you drive up the M1 - I had to drive to Canberra early with mine, I set cruise control to the speed I wanted, then changed gears with the flappy paddles regularly to let the engine run at different revs. The run up the M1 will give you a good variety of load conditions which is good (and potentially speed if it's wet and you need to keep to 90km/h in the climb towards Gosford after Brooklyn).
Its brand new I was told keep it below 3.5ks and why dont just leavr it in cruise was planning on doing that

Ill get it for you its Hostile empire car care and detailing. Ive seen some of his previous car and they look nice
Mine’s done mate, the car is over a year old. Just thought it would be interesting for other members. Can’t say I’ve heard of them but I don’t know all them up there.

He has been doing it for 10 years and he is starting his own business

If memory serves, the manual specifically mentions not maintaining constant load or rpm for extended periods during the first 1,000kms, as this can lead to poor bedding in of the rings and cylinder (it promotes glazing of the cylinder walls). I don't believe it mentions keeping the car below 3,500rpm, I certainly didn't.

I will on my previous car i got camui kraken Japanese paint protection but it cost me a shit ton haha and on the uk forums of my car alot say get the crystal light or ultra

Is it just dont red line it? As if thays the case ill just it normally as not use cruise

Read the manual to be sure. It is on one of the early pages.

Not using cruise control on it's own won't help. You need to ensure you avoid constant periods of time at the same rpm/load. I actually used cruise control to maintain speed, then varied load and rpm by changing gears. The Stinger will easily do 110km/h in 3rd gear, so you have 5 years you can run the car in at 110km/h - each will give a different rpm.

Pretty sure there’s something in the manual about running it in. Using cruise shouldn’t hurt it, to be fair on the M1 you’ll be up and down speed and revs a bit anyway, there’s a couple of 80kph zones due to roadworks, plus the 90/100 through Mount White, then add traffic to that and you’ll be up and down the entire trip. The smart cruise will have you up and down on speed etc when it detects traffic in front of you, also depends on the sensitivity of the cruise. You can adjust it, might be worth reading a bit of the manual before you go if you have time. Main thing is just don’t redline it or use launch control until after at least the first 1000km. Regardless just enjoy it.

I lived in England for a couple of years. The UK has completely different environmental conditions to us here (their temperature ranges are different, their water is generally "hard", etc), so that is something to factor into your decision.

Welcome to the Hive, plenty of info here and sounds like you have it all planned. There is a Kia GT group that does drives in Vic, every 3 months or so, I post up a thread for any Victorian members that maybe interested.:)
Sounds good! Just have to get one first! Hoping that as the end of the year gets closer, dealers will be more keen to clear 2019 Build models.

Hi all, first time poster here.

Can anyone recommend a business in Adelaide that does a good job of paint correction and paint protection film? I took delivery of my Silky Silver GT a month ago and there are light swirl marks on the gloss black B-pillar trims so I want those swirls polished out and then PPF applied over the top, along with some other areas.

Thanks for your assistance!

I checked, unfortunately Pompanazzi don't have any installers in South Australia. :(

Thanks Flameangel! I saw the photos you posted of your car after paint correction and protection - it’s the most gorgeous car with the deepest paintwork and shine I’ve ever seen! Your paint protection guys did an amazing job! My car has paint protection done by the dealer and I don’t think the installer was very good as there are some very light swirl marks even on the silver paintwork. Luckily it’s not too bad - here’s a photo of mine:

Thanks Manaz, the downside of Adelaide’s small population is there are fewer detailing businesses and it’s hard to find anyone who can recommend a place. Hopefully someone on the forum has had this kind of work done locally.

Thanks @KAS yes I was so pleased with the outcome. When I drive it in the evening/ night it still has a beautiful shine and really turns heads :)

Hey all I'll be getting my 19 my20 white stinger soon just waiting to hear back from dealer on when delivery will be. Im torn on whether I should get paint protection or not, I've never had gotten it previously and have just waxed and polished all my previous cars. First time spending 60k on a car and just want to hear your thoughts as I know the paint isn't the greatest I've been reading about the stingers paint.

Welcome and enjoy. Thoroughly recommend protection especially for the front end. Ceramic coat the entire car and it will be easier to keep clean and retain a sparkle.
