ambient lighting

Anyone have any tips to getting a good connection through the fuse into the module? If I run it through the fuse it doesn't work but using the cigarette adapter works. I'm guessing i'm not getting a good connection in there. This is my first attempt at powering anything in my car through the fuse so I could just not understand fundamentally how it works. Am I to wrap the exposed wire around a single fuse leg or both? Should I somehow wedge it so it gets pushed in with the fuse? Any tips would be helpful, thanks!

The lighter socket has both +12v and ground. You will have to find an empty fuse slot with +12v switched, so it will be off when the ignition is off AND another empty fuse slot for ground and run both wires to your light(s). {Using the taps in the above link.}

Of course, if there is a good frame ground near your light connection, you can use that and only run a +12v wire from the fuse box, from just one of those taps.

I have a 2019 GT and it DOES have the interior lighting above glove compartment and door pockets. I wish I went just a little brighter, but still a great look.

The OEM factory-installed illumination and mood light LEDs are really too dim for sufficient lighting the doors as they open and for any useful illumination of the under-dash areas, which is specifically why I also ordered these aftermarket strips, one pair for increasing the under- dash front illumination, and the second pair, which I also installed under the back of the front seats, which is now so much brighter. I quickly hooked up power in the fuse box to work automatically with the factory interior and door lights. This kit also comes with a hand-held remote controller to change colors or turn off as desired. Really handy to easily enter the vehicle, then find things that might have fallen on the floor, and very useful for lighting up the previously dark rear passengers footwell areas.

Purchased the LED kit from Opt7. Link is above.
Placed LEDs where I wanted them to be located and ran wires back to power box included in the kit.
For power i connected the positive wire to the cluster fuse. Negative wire was connected to bolt behind fam pedal.

That's pretty much it. LEDs will turn on when you press the push to start button.
Are they dimmable? I'm thinking about adding some subtle foot lighting at some point. But I don't want it any stronger, and maybe dimmer, than the current OEM ambient lighting.

I just bought a new 2020 GT2 AWD. I'm not used to this ambient lighting thing. Especially the purple color. It reminds me of one of Cheech & Chong's low riders or a pimps ride. Maybe I'll get used to it.

lol, you can change it. I find red or blue the best.

Thanks. I'm working on the white at the moment. I'll try the blue and red next. I don't think the purple or yellow ever be seen again.
