ambient lighting

Purchased the LED kit from Opt7. Link is above.
Placed LEDs where I wanted them to be located and ran wires back to power box included in the kit.
For power i connected the positive wire to the cluster fuse. Negative wire was connected to bolt behind fam pedal.

That's pretty much it. LEDs will turn on when you press the push to start button.

Thanks Jays_Stinger,

The advice on connecting the stripped positive wire to the cluster fuse was a big help.

I highly recommend this product to all Stinger owners that do not have interior ambient LED lighting as standard. Finding suitable locations for the 4 LED strips was easy with no need to use any of the mounting clips or cable ties so the kit can be removed at anytime without any screw holes being left behind and the car 100% original.

The front seats each have 2 elastic straps securing the carpet lining that wraps under the back of the seat and the rear LED strips tucked under this elastic neatly, I just used an inch of double sided tape to stop the middle section of the light strip from sagging. The front LEDs stick directly under the dash using the double sided 3M film already on the back of the strip.

The wiring from the rear LEDs can be tucked under the plastic trim that runs down each side of the centre console (you will just need to move the seat to get access as you conceal the cable) and both left side LEDs wiring can be fed under the dash and over the transmission tunnel to the the lighting control box that I tucked up inside the dash behind the steering wheel. Where the control box positive power wire runs to the fuse box you will need to pull apart and separate the ground wire here so it can reach down to be secured to the bolt behind the brake pedal.

No Problem.
Thanks for adding instructions for the install. It should be a great help for others looking to install the kit

Are you folks installing this in a way that they're illuminated when driving?

Mine has lighting that comes on when you're entering/exiting, but they extinguish once you get moving. Can't imagine having the footwells illuminated while driving..

It just adds on the the already existing ambient lighting. Your car's ambient lights don't stay on while driving? You may have them turned off in the options menu.

The strips on the door/console stay on, but the footwell lights go off when driving..

I have them to where they stay on while driving... No point just to have them as I get in and out of the car....Just my opinion... you can dim the lights if they're to bright for you.

Which trim levels have the LED light tubes going around the dash? One of the coolest features of the car. It surprises people when they see it

I thought they all had it.

I did as well. A few photos in this thread lead me to believe GT and GT1's don't have it. I'm referring to the RGB ambient lighting that is in the dash and door cards from the factory.

On a side note, I thought the Stinger had cool lighting, up until my father rolls in with the 2019 M5...that thing is banana's.

GT1s definitely have it. Maybe GTs don't.

Also interesting, the $55k G70s have no ambient lighting. I thought that was a strange omission.

Did you check in the settings (using steering wheel controls)? Perhaps it’s disabled?

So pretty sure I have plain white LEDs in the front foot wells. I think they come on and off with the dome lights. Are you able to turn those off or do you just get a little extra white with the ambient color when the oems come on with the domes?

Please add your location to your user profile.

That said, assuming you're in the USA, they do not only come on with the dome lights, but also when the vehicle is in park - and that can not be disabled.

My UK spec GTS doesn't have any ambient lighting - I'm going to try one of these kits of ebay - thanks for a great post and all the pics all

Anyone have any tips to getting a good connection through the fuse into the module? If I run it through the fuse it doesn't work but using the cigarette adapter works. I'm guessing i'm not getting a good connection in there. This is my first attempt at powering anything in my car through the fuse so I could just not understand fundamentally how it works. Am I to wrap the exposed wire around a single fuse leg or both? Should I somehow wedge it so it gets pushed in with the fuse? Any tips would be helpful, thanks!
