3.3T Turbo Oil Feed Line Recall 2024

By my previous posting, you know that I was very sorry to take the car to Kia for the recall. After 4 days of excuses and mispresentations, I finally got my car and, now, their work has created a problem in the brake line. I won't take it back to Kia to be fixed because I imagine that I'll be put in the "queue" again for the recall techs to fix the problem they caused. I've taken the car to a local mechanic. My car has low mileage and no leaks or problems. I wish I had waited on the recall -- at least for several months when more techs are trained and more parts are available.

I know what you mean. They forgot to either bleed the coolant line or forgot to refill it. My wife ended up stranded on the free way with the car overheating. I will never go back to a KIA dealership after that fiasco.

Mine was supposedly being worked on today. So, hopefully, we can pick it up tomorrow. Wife has her hobbies like art and I like to take care of the cars and periodically go to the range. We'll see. Don't want to come across as an unpleasant, whining customer, so I'll plan on being cordial. Don
Best luck! Please share any pertinent details!

Is there any data that miles or age were contributing factors to those who have suffered this fate? Honest question.
Not sure on that. Knowing my luck this year with cars, mine would have went up in flames. So I wasn't risking it. haha

From what the recall says it can happen at anytime. That if you see smoke pull off the road and turn off your engine.

If I could do it again, I'd wait until this recall is out a while longer. Them forgetting to refill or bleed my coolant line made me regret doing it so soon.

I dislike my local Kia dealer as much as the next guy, but are sure your current "brake line problem" is related in any way to the turbo oil feed line recall?

They seem completely unrelated!

Greetings,
I dropped my car off last Wednesday (DHC Kia of Temecula). I was told it would take 2 days because of the fluid bleed and refill. On my way to drop the car off, the oil light started flashing. I told the service department about it and they made a note of it.

Got a call 2 days later and they told me the recall service was done but that the oil light was still on and upon further inspection, they found that there was an internal leak and that the oil sensor (and another part I can't recall, but I will update when I do lol) needed to be replaced. They needed to order the parts and they wouldn't be in until Tuesday (today). I am supposed to get a call tomorrow to pick up the car so we'll see. I DO have aftermarket intakes and sparks but when I spoke to the service department they told me everything was covered under warranty and would be taken care off.

They did provide me with a rental free of charge, although it is a 2024 Toyota Corolla with hubcaps and no guts (I have named him El Bastardo).

Hopefully I'll get to pick it up tomorrow.

I really don't know if the brake line problem is related. I had no problem before taking it in to Kia. I understand that Kia works on a couple of lines to perform the recall work and perhaps they caused a small leak in the adjoining brake line? People who know a lot more about cars than I ever will say that the recall work is "tricky" and complicated.

Got our GT1 back from the recall at the dealership. I was driving our Cadillac CT4-Blacking but my wife said all was normal.

A good thing was that my wife had a doctor's appt at a place I was familiar with and that nearby main drag gives me a much better way to get top the dealership for an oil change.

Having the dealer do oil changes is a very new thing for me but I hate the oil filter on the Stinger and a shoulder issue makes taking off all the fasteners under the engine cover a PITA. Don

Get a vacuum canister and suck the oil out the dipstick tube. Only one fastener needs to be removed to change the filter under the engine.

Got my car back this morning. Everything looks good. I had about an hour drive home and had no issues nor did I notice any difference in the driving.
Besides the recall fix, they found the oil pressure switch was leaking into the harness causing it to short to ground. They replaced the oil pressure switch and the harness assy.

Is it yours? Looks like rear main is leaking.
Yup. Is mine. (That video was from Jul 25, 2021, when I had only 68k KMs, now 132k)

I have monitored very closely, every oil change!

The only thing I repaired/replaced under warranty was a transmission oil cooler line, which was leaking, and what appeared to be a rear main seal leak - is gone now!

Isn't that a long/large job? Some (at least 1) people have had that denied for warranty coverage.

That's good to hear. I like what you did for drain opening with that round cover. What is it?

I just got my notice for recall fix. I'm in the US with 2019 GT 3.3T. Letter says 3 hours but my Kia said a few days. The service person said they need to drop the engine out. I'm more afraid that dropping the engine out and putting it back in doesn't always workout 100%. Like a clip might be missing or a screw not tightened. Fingers crossed none of that will happen.
I am not sure where you got that Information. The Recall pays 3.2 hours. You only remove the intake air box, cowl, coolant hose, coolant pipe. Than the turbo line and the dipstick. The dipstick, and turbo lines get replaced, alongside the coolant pipe, and all necessary orings and gaskets.

Isn't that just an oil change and a general inspection?

Yes, I had the appointment to get the turbo line replaced and at same time to do regular maintenance. I still haven’t got the radio antenna fixed, it’s not the fin. I was told that they have to remove the liner to get to it. The part is still on back order.
