2.0T Community Thread

HELLO IM NEW TO THE CAR COMMUNITY I BOUGHT A 2020 GT LINE 2.0 STINGER AND WAS WONDERING IF YOU GUYS HAD ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I SHOULD GET FOR MY FIRST MOD I HAVE NO IDEA ON WHAT I SHOULD START WITH.
THANKS !
Welcome and congrats... as far the moods I have only done so far cosmetic, badges, ceramic coating, tinting and axleback EVC exhaust... tomorrow I'm installing mid pipes ... probably a week after pedal tuner .
Got to say just by changing axleback exhaust my 2.0l has become a whole lot of a different ride ..
Here are couple of videos with valve closed and valve open. Sha was warm , so not a cold start.
I'll put up two more videos after mid pipe install to see if they make sound any different!

If i had to purchase a Stinger today, it would be the 2.5t as I'm sure that the JB4 for it could get close to 400hp at the crank.
I am definitely with you on that. Glad to see the numbers on your run. figured with enough effort, this 2.0 could become pretty respectable in the performance dept. Had mine serviced a couple days ago and dealer had dark grey my22 GT2 in showroom. Of course they showed it to me and even tried to get me in it. I told them that maybe I would look at one a little later but wanted them to call the moment they got a 2.5T in!!!!

Really want to see how much difference that 2.5 makes.

Hi all!
After lurking here since the original Stingers came out, I finally got one.
I am upgrading from a 2009 Mazda3, so even the 2.0 is a huge change for me.
2021 Ceramic Gray (No sunroof. hate those). I am working on the lease buyout currently.

The interior is so nice! And I still look twice whenever I see a stinger, so the newness has not worn off yet. I am at like 800 miles, and the majority of that was from a 6hr drive to pick up the car.

I was surprised by the auto start/stop at stoplights. That delay was a shocker the first few times.
In general, getting started is quite slow, then all the sudden the car will wooosh forward and all was right with the world. Switching from Eco to Sport greatly reduced the lag, though.

Hatch rattle! Arrrgh. This should have been fixed years ago. Taking it to a dealership for a recall anyways, so i will bring it up.

I do find it amusing at how fast my "distance to empty" gauge goes down when i start having fun. And why are there so many other people on the road! I don't understand needing more power, as i barely get to use mine except for the occasional onramp. I get the "more power" thing, but just cant figure out where people are driving where they actually get to open up.

I grew up in the country, so this City stuff can be stifling.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
All depends on how daring you're feeling on where you play. I cant say im wide open all the time but definitely like having a lil more to dodge the idiots.
Congrats on the new ride, ad welcome

Congratulations on the new Stinger! I can’t imagine the huge jump going from an 09 Mazda 3 to the stinger. Mine is a 21 and has the rattle as well, I don’t understand why it’s so hard for Kia to fix it but I’ll be trying the washer trick soon. I also live in the city and find the 2.0 is plenty fast for daily driving.

Years ago I had an 04 Mach 1 mustang and as much fun as it was at times, the majority of the time I just putted around going 25mph while getting terrible gas mileage. So for the stinger I decided just to save a good chunk of money and go with the GT line and so far I’m totally happy with it!

I REALLY wanted the green 2.5 2022 model, but by the time i took off the lease cash, added the sun/sund package, and got rid of any dealer negotiating room, it would have been 10k+ more.

No regrets. Wish it was easier to get a hitch on here though. Toss my bike on and go. Im not a fan of dismantling the bike to cram it into the trunk.

Yep I went through the same thing. Dealer had two 22 GT lines on the lot but I just couldn’t pass up the deal on the 21 since the dealer wouldn’t negotiate at all on the 22s.

2.0T owner over here :) Went through some ups and downs with mine but I love it. Bought it way up in the beginning of 2019 when it first appeared around Europe. I own the RWD version.
Here's the bad part: Cylinder 3 failed me at 25.000KM. Bad Luck. Engine has been changed under warranty.

Here comes the fun part.
I just did around 2000 km breakdown of the new engine and started modding it but first I did a dyno.
Stock - 221 HP - 198whp (pretty low taking in consideration I have the 188KW version - that's what writes on my Car ID).

Did some little upgrades - MagnaFlow Cat-Back Competition Exhaust + Injen Cold Air Intake and man.. I must admit, this is how this car should've sounded from the beginning :)
After a second dyno with the upgrades it has 231HP (only 10HP gain from the cat-back + Injen Cold Air Intake - pretty low but hey.. still it's a +)

Just ordered HKS M45XL + JB4 with the Wireless Connection + HKS SQV4 BOV. Really curious how these will add up to the existing setup.

Overall I love my Stinger and will ALWAYS do. No matter what. My 0-100 is around 7,4s (pretty bad I guess) but.. We'll see what the JB4 will come up with.
Fuel Consumption? I managed on the old engine to get it to 8,8l/100km in the city but with grandma style of driving. Overall I get in the range of 10 up to 15l/100km in the city ,if I have a more sporty driving.
Highway? Pretty low consumption I must admit. 179km/h @ 3000-3050 rpm - 10,8l/100km.

Gonna keep you guys updated. Also if there's anyone here that wants to do his first upgrade to the 2.0 please go with a CAI (K&N or Injen, doesn't matter) and MagnaFlow Cat-Back.. and please, do not listen to the YouTube videos of Magnaflow showing how the exhaust sounds because it is NOWHERE close. In reality it is amazing! On YT the MF sounds like some sad farts

Bless you all.

There was a recall for a fusebox, so when I took the car in to the dealer, i had them investigate the hatch rattle as well.
"We took out the license plates from your trunk, and its gone".
No. Not at all. But good try....

I drove with a tech over a gently bumpy road, and he said "Oh, yeah. got it".
They were able to adjust a couple things and it seems to be completely gone. I did not realize how obnoxious it was until I got the silence of driving without it. (Lots of construction around here, so it thunked a LOT)

Well...its been a few months, and things have really changed in my life.
I am now moving to Germany. It was a spur of the moment decision, and was not well thought out. But it will be a hell of an adventure!

I have never cared about driving before, but I thoroughly enjoy just being in this car. Zero complaints. And even months later, I hate to shut the engine off.
(Side note -- the AAWireless Android Auto Wireless adapter works awesome. Highly recommended.)

Vroom has offered 37.6 for it. I paid 32 after tax and fees and registration. So someone paid me to drive this! Madness.

Hopefully this car is still a thing in a few years, and I will come lurk here again.

You should get one in Germany. You'll certainly find a very good 2.0 for 37k $. Probably even a 3.3.
Aaaaand, you have the Autobahn.

Man that would be glorious....
I spent so much time in traffic at <65mph, its hard to imagine opening up as i would want.

Having owned my 2021 GT-Line for about 15 months, I've been interested in upgrading to a GT2. I really like my GT-Line, but I miss the features of my old Acura that (for the most part) come on the GT2... basic luxuries like driver memory seats. With trade-in values as crazy as they are, I figure this is an opportunity to start fresh without taking a bath.

New Stingers are nearly impossible to find in the DFW area, so I just got back from test driving a 2019 GT2 RWD. I was really surprised about a lot of aspects of the car:
  • Seats: The Nappa leather seats are softer, both by touch and padding, than the base seats. Even the head rest felt more padded.
  • Exhaust sound: Our 2.0L models might as well be electric cars compared to the sound coming from the 3.3L setup. Quiet at speed, but definitely makes its presence known under acceleration. Does the GT pipe in artificial sound? (I turned it off in my car)
  • Acceleration: This was perhaps the most surprising... and you'll think I'm crazy... but I wasn't blown away by the acceleration, at least at speed (stomping on it at 45). There was definitely more grunt, but also a lot more weight to get moving. I've been running Map 2 with the JB4 on my 2.0L and it's awesomely responsive on the highway.
  • Features: Love the HUD and large color MID between the gauges. Underwhelmed with the accent lighting (is it only on the passenger dash area? I thought it would be on the doors as well?). Love the electronic parking brake and adaptive LED headlights... these two features (or lack thereof) are the main reason I'm looking to upgrade from my current ride. Cooled seats in Texas would be a plus, too.
  • The ride: It feels even more planted as it hauls ass down the highway, but I'd rate it a wash between the two. The weight difference can really be felt as well.
I'm torn about what to do. I didn't love the car as much as I thought I would. I'm still interested in trying a '22 GT2... The bigger infotainment screen is appealing, but I don't love the new wheels, the huge exhaust tips, or the brake lights. And although the new KIA symbol is light years better than the one it replaced, the "E" badging I have on my 2.0L looks classier in my eyes, and attempting to remove that large aluminum badge on the hood is a paint disaster waiting to happen. I just don't think a new '22 is worth the $20K premium.

The '22 GT-Line makes sense on paper with its bigger engine and added features, but its wheels are a deal breaker, and it's still impossible to get all of the features from the GT2.

I plan on looking at A5 Sportbacks or possibly an S5 if a lease deal can be made. Has anyone driven the Audis to compare?

Im in a MY18 premium and love it. The extra stuff outside of the motor is very minimal to me. Yes the extra powere would be fun but i find myself at 90 all the time on the highway already so..... Nevermind the miles i drive. I looked at a GT recently and never pulled the trigger. Just couldn't get past the fact i love my current ride.
If all the tech stuff is what you miss/want in your ride then its really something to consider. Yes the market is still stupid so if you can come out ahead or even then you're winning. I agree with the wheel thing but thats easily fixed so IMO i wouldn't focus too hard on that. You never see the brake lights, its everyone that your gapping that does! The exhaust tips ill agree there too, lil big, but again, opens the door to customization.
All in all you have to be happy when you walk out to your ride, and as you rip around

2.5T here. For 90% of the time it's more than enough engine. For the other 10%, well, I can appreciate the savings upfront and every time I fill up. All depends how/where you drive. No point in driving a ferrari in stop/go traffic.
