3.3TT New STILLEN Intake and Cat-Back Exhaust Coming Soon

K&N blew it for me once I started hearing about the fit issues. I'm not concerned about couple extra HP, but it better fit properly.

There's easier (free) ways to get that noise. I'm more interested in a combination of best quality, heat isolation, most power gain, least low end torque loss.

I'm still planning on getting JTs CAI but I inadvertently bought wheels, tires, and springs over the last few days so I've kinda put the intake on the back burner.

Lowering springs? If so! Please send me some pics when your done.

I have to use the “inadvertent purchase” excuse with my wife. Ha!

I'm getting some paint work done next week to delete the side reflectors. Once I have everything buttoned up I'll take some pics and post em.

Alright folks, I am going to help clear up a ton of information here.

#1, the intake was not supposed to be listed on their website today, it was a mistake, and therefore they pulled it back down.

They will be releasing the intake tomorrow or Friday on their site with photos, however, it will not be ready to ship just yet.

We have added the product to our site for pre-order, it also explains on our site the information regarding the two different filter options that are available.

We are offering a $20 discount for forum members here, only for the first 5 orders placed on our site.

The discount code will automatically be applied at checkout, if you use the link below to order from our site.

Kia Stinger 3.3TT - STILLEN Air Intake System - K8 Stinger Store (Only 5 are discounted for $20 off, after that the code will not work)

Please note, it states on our site that this is a preorder, and it also lists when STILLEN plans to begin shipping them out.

If you have any questions, please direct them to Sales@K8StingerStore.com

Still looking forward to some detailed pictures of the components, housings, filters, tubing, etc., as well as some sound clips and hopefully installation info that shows how it goes together, and draws cold air.

Unlike the Jonny Tig product which is open at the back to the engine bay, these would appear to be a closed box - though they refer to the system as high flow. Have they modified/supplemented the relatively restrictive OEM intake passthrough to the front side of the radiator bulkhead?

These are actually open on the sides. If you zoom into some of the pictures they orovipro you can actually see the filter.

Yes, I too saw a glimpse of the filter through a (relatively small) opening when they first posted a picture several weeks back, of what I assume was their prototype. However, this is what their current marketing reads as published on the K8 'pre-order' page:

The filters sit inside custom-fitted urethane intake boxes, which ensure no hot engine compartment air gets fed into the intake tract. This creates a cold air path, and unlike other manufacturers who only partially shield the filter from the hot underhood air, STILLEN has fully enclosed the filters and draws on cold air from behind the grille, for optimum performance.

Nice. Hopefully they'll post up some pics of the production piece that matches the description.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Stillen has a page up on their site now - of sorts. Shows 'Product Image Coming Soon', and has empty placeholders for the HP and Torque increase numbers. They do have wet and dry filter intake kits listed as separate parts, and have a price listed (same for both).

Features:

  • Built To Last - Designed & Built in the U.S.A.
  • More Efficient Air Filter Media Enhances Airflow Improves mileage per gallon (MPG)
  • Molded Heat Shields Help Prevent Hot Air From Entering Intake for Consistent Performance
  • Larger Surface Area Air Filters for Greater Intake Airflow Capacity
  • Enhanced Throttle Response Across the Rev Range
  • Dyno'd results show +18 HP / +21TQ gains
  • Simple Installation - Easy Enough to Do In Your Driveway!
  • Visually Improves Engine Bay Aesthetics & Appearance
  • Runs Great on OEM Tune, No CEL, No Tune Needed!
  • Choose between either Oiled K&N Filters or Dry AEM Filters

Any dyno reports showing the +18HP gain! Thats pretty nicely done. Which filters where used when they got those gains? The K&Ns or the Dry AEM filters? I may have to jump on this for the price.

What is your opinion about wet or dry filters?
Which do you prefer and why?
Advantages/disadvantages of each?
Lots of info on that if you google it but generally when compared with a dry filter, an oiled filter of equivalent size will 1) pass slightly more air, 2) pass slightly more dirt, 3) require more maintenance (cleaning/oiling), and 4) last much longer.

Just did a brief search and this is a compilation of what I found...

Has anyone had any experience with an AEM dry flow filter or another similar brand. The K&N cone style filter on my GTP is trashed and I was thinking of trying the AEM filter but I have not seen anyone discuss this filter. From what I understand it is a washable filter with out the oil.

I have one on my Subaru, but it is the panel type to fit the Subaru's factory air cleaner box, not a cone filter. I'll probably get mocked for saying it, but I can tell a difference. Seems to pull slightly better near the top end when throttle is opened up. AEM is an owned subsidiary of K&N. My AEM DryFlow arrived with K&N shipping labels on the box. It is washable and the media is dry, not oiled. Seems solidly built.

I replaced the K&N on my '68 Camaro with an AEM. It looks really well built and works fine. I always forget to clean & oil K&N filters so AEM is the way to go for me. I also bought their "prefilter" (a fine nylon bag) to go over it. Since in my application the filter element is exposed to the engine compartment, any drops of oil or liquid could get on the element.

I think the AEM Dryflow media is in the top tier but, per square inch,it doesn't flow as well as a K&N or some other "High Performance." In fact, when I flowbenched a drop in element in my F150 airbox two years ago, it flow slightly less than a new Motorcraft element. Didn't stop me from using it, as I am after efficiency rather than a few CFM at 5000+ rpm.

AEM still wants you to buy their synthetic air filter cleaner for cleaning. This was what turned me away. BUT only since K&N came into the picture. Before that, they suggested Simple Green. Now in the FAQ they suggest their whiz bang stuff or "a mild multi-purpose cleaner." The AEM is pretty durable media.

Ok the wait is over!! These are live on the site and we are offering 20$ off for the first (5) orders placed. For the discounted price please follow the link below:

Kia Stinger 3.3T - STILLEN Air Intake System

I admire your enthusiasm but the wait isn't quite over get. Stillen hasn't shown itself to be firm with their timelines.

BUT, please tell us you have more info/pics or you will prior to the estimated ship days?

Ya know, as we keep replying to this thread, we do keep helping them get more potential business, BUT...

Looking at the Dynojet dyno looks a little curious. I've always taken my cars to Dynojet dynos so that I can stick with the relatively typical 15% drivetrain power loss at the wheels. This has proven to be fairly (and again, relatively) accurate to what the factory rates at the crank versus the results at the wheels.

342.87 wheel HP is 403.38 crank HP. Even if the Stinger GT is underrated, it seems strange to be underrated by a whopping 35 HP. Are we sure this was dyno tested on a bone stock Stinger GT? o_O Starting at 340 WHP just screams at least an exhaust system.

Unfortunately people tend to accept performance parts manufacture's HP claims without a bit of skepticism.

I've said it time and again-and I know it's an unpopular stance-there is absolutely no reason for me to believe any HP claims posted by the people who will benefit most from them.

The only dyno results I accept are the ones done on video or by independent testers (the consumers) who have nothing to gain. All others I look at as probable Photoshops.

I think it's more important to focus on how the claimed power is made, the quality of the parts and workmanship, track slips, etc.

In this industry it’s easy to get excited about a product release. Setbacks also happen and when pairing the two it doesn’t look good in the public’s eyes. We appreciate everyone’s patience as it’s worth the wait!

All this information/estimated ship dates are listed on the website. We are expecting more photos of the intakes which I think everyone has been asking about. Im traveling all today and tomorrow with spotty service so I haven’t been able to keep up with that bit of information but I’ll be sure to upload any new photos when I can
