JT 3.3TT CAI Group Buy

@Volvowith18psi you are correct the factory air duct is required in order to hold the new duct that will direct air into the intakes. Also I advise against removing the factory duct as it helps direct air flow from the front to the correct places (radiator, ac condenser, etc)

What differences have you found with the intercooler?

Steve, the kit includes a full color installation guide for the CAI kit.

Rob, Ill shoot you a PM later to not clutter up the GB.

Thanks for the reply, and yes, I understand that - I think Jon has made it pretty clear from the beginning that this comes with a step-by-step guide.

I have no concern with removing the bumper - that looks to be relatively straightforward, and actually less complicated than most. My concern is with how much cutting of the OEM structure is required for Jon's inlet ducts, as without seeing the installation guide I cannot tell. My preference is always to leave the factory structures intact so modifications can be reverted, especially on a brand new vehicle.

I understand that moving cold air into the filters is a fundamental part of the product design here. As I've mentioned before, I like the how the product looks and the apparent quality of the Jon's work. However, especially when considering the relatively high landed cost, I need to decide if I want to:

1) Install the product as designed, including cutting the OEM structure to accommodate the supplied inlet ducts.
2) Install the product without the supplied inlet ducts, retaining the factory structure and the limited air movement from the front - presumably taking a hit on performance.
3) Consider another CAI/WAI solution, either on the market or currently under development.

To make that call, I need a better understanding of just how much surgery is required - it's really that simple. :)

Fortunately the air duct where the JT CAI ducts attach to, is a piece that can be replaced easily replaced in the event of reversing everything to stock.

Here is a look at the factory setup. Pay close attention at where the factory intake gets the air from. Very restricted!

Hope those help get a better idea of how the complete setup is installed.
No critical OEM structure is compromised here, just a factory plastic air duct that can be easily replaced, should you want to revert back to stock.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Interested as well depending on group buy price. I'm Canadian but have a U.S. shipping address if that will save some shipping costs.

Gents, how much airflow into the engine compartment is too much? Isn't it supposed to flow in and out at all opportunities in order to keep air resistance at minimum? Do the intakes REALLY require all that modification or are the mods actually creating a small problem? I don't want some kind of parachute effect going on. Has anyone seen the rear bumpers on some model Civics with big holes drilled in them just to avoid such an issues?

I'm no expert. And I'm just playing devil's advocate. But it crossed my mind so thought I'd mention it.

This alone made a huge difference to throttle response and outright power with 11 rwkw or 15hp increase.

Its on his website where i got this.

@Got_Stinger i sent you a Pm.

To go back a few posts... parachute effect? I have to say I’ve never heard of this but it is intriguing.

The photo of the white Stinger with kit #2 (polished pipes and black boxes) is my car. The intake is awesome - car definitely feels more responsive and powerful. And the added bonus is that it now sounds much better also! The product and service are both top quality - I highly recommend this to anyone considering it.

This is why underpanels and diffusers have become so popular - especially in the rear - of folks that drag race their cars often.
