Kia Stinger - Australia discussions (pre-release)

Ok just got back from a 2 hour day / night drive and having a nice cold beer. First impression are I’m very very happy with this car. The power of the 3.3 is amazing and the acceleration of the line just puts a massive smile all over your face. The engine is a little quiet but when you give it some revs it’s not that bad. I have got the bimodal exhaust ordered so I have the option for reverting back to the original if I find it to loud. Can’t wait to try the launch control mode when the engine is run in a bit more. The driver seat is easily the most comfortable I have ever had with so many adjustments. Very little road noise even on the corse chip bitumen. The sports setting works really well on the tight winding stuff while comfort mode soaks up the pot holes easily. Love the auto high beam on / off works very quickly but I found the auto leveling and corner turning lights take a little bit of getting used to. The sound system is very nice with premium sound quality. After my drive I sat in the car for another 45 minuets setting up all the other options and man there’s a lot of them. Will revisiting them tomorrow morning. I am extremely happy with the DCB paint job with the red very soft Napa leather. The view out of the car is very good except out the back where it is quite limited but the rear and surrounding cameras work well. I am 6’7 and 112 Kg and I have plenty for room all round but it would be a tight for and adult behind me. Just writing this is making me want to go for another drive. Very Very happy and I believe it’s worth every cent.

Good stuff Richard, or should that be Goliath. Im 6'2" and i could only just reach the pedals with the seat right back. Can you tell me how much the bimodial exhaust is going to be. I haven't ordered it yet. (Formerly Anthony H). Ps. Id still be in the car lol.

Hey guys,

New member here (name is Brendan). I just picked up my Stinger 3.3l GT today. The only colour I could get was Sunset Yellow, which I was initially not too keen on, however now that I have it, I love the colour.

My initial impressions on the car after about four hours of driving are that I am super impressed. Having sworn to never own a Kia after a bad experience with a Rio Back in 2001, I can see that they have come a long way in that time. The car is superb in every aspect. There isn’t anything of any significance that I can fault.

I’d be happy to answer any questions that anyone has as I understand that there aren’t too many in the wild yet.

Anthony there was no confirmed pricing on the exhaust so I paid a $2500 deposit. Hopefully it’s less than that.

Congratulations Brendan I totally agree with what you said. The Sunset yellow with the black leather looks very nice.

Thanks Richard, yep my dealer quoted me $2,500 as well. Just wanted to confirm with others. Also you have impeccable taste.

How did you get AAMI for 779??? wow. I am in Newcastle, got a quote today with them for approx $1400 for the stinger GT

Quick AAMI online quote - 51yo = $843 with 1 x at fault and $725 excess @ $59,990 value (could insure for up to $77k)....about $400 LESS than my 10yo TRD at 1/3 the agreed value.

True but sad. Ps Don't you sleep?

I'm not sleeping till I get my car - and then I'll be sleeping IN it.....mainly because I won't be able to afford the rent.

And 2 things, you're awake right now and.....wait.....nah, too sleep deprived to remember the second thing......

Obviously from IT then (hope you're not Air Traffic Control)....I watch a fair bit of interweb now I'm awake 24/7 but it's not YouTube :p:oops:

You're right, he's that fat pom who said some really stupid (unfunny) Weinstein jokes as MC at an AIDs charity dinner recently....

Hey Richard,

No doubt you have cleared your calendar this weekend to run in the new toy. How many kms is recommended to put on the clock before you have a crack at that launch control mode?

Would love to see some interior shots of that sweet red nappa since you have the only one I know of already on the road and I'm still at least a month away from delivery of my DCB/RNL GT.
