G70 out sold Kia Stinger in Korea

Got an email from a Genesis dealer with some updates on the G70 for the US market. He said release date is closer to November now, which we’ve heard before. I take it with a grain of salt, but he said pricing would be 35-50k. If 50k is the top pricing on this car, it’s going to really shake up the market imo.

He included a brochure in English: www.genesis.com/content/dam/genesis/worldwide/pdf/catalogue_g70_middleast_EN.pdf

Interesting stuff

kinda vanilla imho

I had the luxury of seeing the G70 launched before committing to the Stinger. Still think the Stinger is a better buy (for me) but equally understand the appeal of the G70. Anyone in the market for a compact/entry-level luxury car should have both models in their short-list.

Agree that the Stinger has the more striking sheetmetal btwn the 2 (the G70 being a bit generic); that being said, the next gen G70 will be getting radically different sheetmetal based on the new Genesis design language.

Speaking of BMW, here's a teaser (mostly just the grille design) for BMW's iX3 concept.

The launch of the Genesis brand in Australia has been delayed to the 3Q as well - which, like for the US, has to do w/ a delay in establishing the sales network (something that the Canadian market doesn't have as they went w/ a different method of distribution).

Even w/ the delay, G70 (as well as other Genesis sales) look to be severely hampered, as Genesis will only have a portion of the 100 or so planned dealerships up and running.

That looks very Kia tiger nose-ish

The Stinger has Panamera/A7/Maserati looks/shape.
The G70 has a 3 series looks.
In terms of design, the category where the G70 belongs is usually conservative and somehow boring.
The Stinger however is free to have a little more exotism, if that makes sense.

Thats a MAJOR change for BMW , the "kidney" grill has always been their hallmark .....................strange !!

The G70 is very popular among middle aged women (mostly in 2.0 spec).

I dont wanna sound like sour grapes...but the g70 looks vanilla to me..doesnt have that jeniu da quack...lol.....couple of other things...how you gonna rebadge those huge Bentley wannabe wing emblems?
So the genesis connect plan will come to your home and connect and disconnect your JB4 box for you?
I doubt the g70 will draw 2 to 5 folks gathered around the car in a shopping center like my stinger does...its just crazy how this car attracts folks....maybe the g70 will help stinger sales? ..Wash

The Stinger has outsold the G70 so far here in OZ..

My wife is 1.0 spec. Been thinking of trading up to a 2.0. How does this effect car choice?

I actually like the Genesis emblems. Looks a lot better than Kia's.

I've noticed a lot of cars look better in person that in photos. When the Stinger launched, I know folks that weren't a fan of it, seems it was too original a design for KIA. Then weeks later, they began to talk about what was copied from other companies. When it was pointed out that the car was designed and engineered by Europeans, they started to take on a different tone. The G70 is much the same, something new from Hyundai on their Genesis brand. Both cars has great designs which set them apart from their competition, for me the Stinger meets my particular needs as the Genesis is going to be on the smaller side. I would like to see more generations of the Stinger and it added to their premium lone like the K900. It's priced close enough to deserve that kind of treatment.

Stinger wins in the looks category hands down. Looks more ass-kickin'.

I'll look at getting the G70 when I'm retired and old enough to hike up my pants so that my belt is around my tits!

Just test drove a G70 (a 4 cylinder) because my sister-in-law is looking into them. I have to say, it felt really good! I can only imagine what the V6 feels like, especially since it's lighter than our Stingers. Genesis definitely has a hit on their hands but they need to get the word out. We're negotiating lease prices now and they are coming in WAY higher than Audi is on an A4 lease.
