3.3T Turbo Oil Feed Line Recall 2024

stingers aren’t elite.
In Canada, starting in 2022, the top Stinger model is the GT Elite. We have two models; the Limited and the GT Elite.

Not sure yet. I haven't picked up the car after their coolant mistake. Going today after work. I will let you know if it fixed the leak.
Update. Since getting the recall done, I no longer have the slow oil drips I was having previously. I always questioned where the leak was coming from as it was a lot darker color than the oil in the oil pan. I have a 2018, and I'm shocked it took KIA this long to get a recall for this issue.

I actually bought my ‘22 GT2 from them under CPO. Their Stinger tech is definitely into Stingers. I’m down the road in Raleigh or I’d take mine there for the recall work.

Anyone done theirs at Fred Anderson Kia in Raleigh?
Name of Stinger tech? Sounds like someone I need to have a side conversation with!

And, yes, I’ll be doing mine there eventually, but I’ve learned watching that modified Stingers get the side-eye so I can’t recommend them for heavily modified cars, which was the question.

Hi hello - resident member here who blew engine and turbos last year...it all happened on the same drive: the second I turned on the car there was this clicking by the front driver brakes (never ever happened before); then car would only drive limp with clicking still non-stop (I think when braking the most but memory murky); anyhow, it was a 11 mile non-stop drive with these symptoms and then I made a 5 min stop (so engine turned off); then drove another mile (symptoms not letting up) before it all culminated in tons of black smoke from exhausts and front hood and engine death. I did have mods - intake, sparks, JB4, EWG add on connectors, and all after-market pipes -- and was doing E85 too. Still got all my original parts as well but I ain't putting them back on - my warranty has been long gone and the dealerships are just not worth the headache (trust me, all your dealer stories are not anomalies!).

Of course got my engine replaced but I have totally different turbos now: KIA STINGER 3.3TT TK700 STAGE 3 BALL BEARINGHYBRID TURBOS. Bunch of other mods added simultaneously too: intercooler, brakes, brace and sways, CPI kit, Lozic ECU, and different pipes. I've got the full detailed list, just not very savvy, but it shows all the nooks and crannies associated with these and more.

No idea if any of this means I can still avoid Kia dealers for life. But lmk your thoughts bc I want to avoid them for life.

sounds easy enough. just don't go into a KIA place. they don't have anything you need anyway, since you are quite possibly the king of "pay to play" and have no claim on a warranty whatsoever.

Everyone kept telling me to just sell and get a new car considering how much extra I was putting into it on top of the new engine; but love makes you do crazy things.

My recall repair was done a week ago successfully. It took about 3 1/2 hours and no issues (yet).

Took my car into the dealer early Tuesday for the recall. Naive me, I thought I'd drop the car off, wait around the customer lounge, maybe get an ealier light lunch.

I got nothing of value from the service department. Finally I said "So I assume you have no idea when you'll have an opening." Answer "That's right."

Just got off the phone and they're saying Monday or Tuesday. With my luck and the nation wide disgusting weather, a big hailstone storm will roll through and destroy the car. Don

You had a scheduled appointment? Or you just showed up in hopes to get service?

Yes, a scheduled appointment. Bummer. Don

Wow, sounds like they have a pretty poor scheduling system.

That sucks.
The incidents I can't wrap my head around are those shared above, and on the other recall threads, where they go in to the scheduled recall, and after hours of waiting they are told "we don't have the parts". WTH? You do not schedule an appointment UNTIL the parts are in hand, if you are a competent, considerate business that is.

I had my car for service, a U.S. 2020 stinger gt 3.3t, and the dealer said the car needed the recall work to replace the oil feeder hose and pipe.
I have the 2022 Kia Stinger Scorpion package. I took my car in for brakes replacement, inspection and of course this recall. From what I was told.. the turbocharger oil feeder and hose assembly is quite a task to replace. I’ve been waiting for the service to be completed for the past 3 days.

Your car is just "in queue".

It's just a few hours of work once they finally begin to work on your car

why leave your car waiting "in queue"? That makes no sense at all.
Maybe he got a loaner car, and wasn't comfortable driving with the fire hazard?

This was my reasoning for leaving mine there. Chances of it happening might be slim, but I wasn't willing to take that risk
I see. Well, that is a judgment call for sure. Have you tried to get a look at the condition of your oil line's heat shroud?

Can’t argue with that logic.

But…

At this point in the recall repair lifecycle I think there’s a higher risk of (admittedly far less impactful) damage from the repair than there will be in a month or three.

Besides, how long have you had your car? The risk is no different now than it has been all that time. Your awareness doesn’t change anything…though you’d kick yourself harder if it burns, you’d known, and not done anything. But the chance of burning hasn’t changed.

Is there any data that miles or age were contributing factors to those who have suffered this fate? Honest question.

Mine was supposedly being worked on today. So, hopefully, we can pick it up tomorrow. Wife has her hobbies like art and I like to take care of the cars and periodically go to the range. We'll see. Don't want to come across as an unpleasant, whining customer, so I'll plan on being cordial. Don
