This is the car I want to buy, but having a hard time with the 37k asking price. Having seen the car in person, all 4 wheels have significant curb rash, its on no name "Tiger paw" tires, and has paint issues such as small rust spots near the filler cap, and rock chips through the paint on the front. What would be a fair offer to the dealer?
The forum wont allow me to post a link unfortunately but it is the "2019 ceramic silver GT2 at Tasca Chevrolet"
For reference, when I was there I offered 32,500, and was told that was too low. They paid someone 35k on trade in for a brand new c8 corvette...
Honestly, if you aren't in a hurry to buy, I would pass on that particular car. Those are all signs that the car wasn't cared for. Unless it comes with shop records saying otherwise, there's a good chance maintenance was neglected as well.

You are the GOAT for the quick replies brother. Ya, the carfax is clean and it only has 30k miles. However, the Carfax doesn't show any history of oil changes (which is weird, you'd expect those to show up right? Even if not done at a dealership?). The current dealership its at did add new pads, do an oil change, balance the tires, etc. It's just hard because I'm not sure when a clean history GT2 in my preferred color with low miles is gunna show up locally again :/

It's possible they did oil changes at a local shop, or by themself, rather than the dealer and they didn't report it - but I wouldn't count on that.
The rust spots this early would also be concerning to me if they're down into the metal and aren't just discoloration of the clear coat/paint. If road salt is used in the winter near you, that may not be uncommon, but rusted metal only spreads with time.
Rock chips are normal with miles and pretty unavoidable.
If you're seriously considering the car, I always think it's worth it to pay for an inspection. They'll be able to tell you if the car has normal wear or if there's any hidden damage. They'll be able to spot signs the car was in an accident that won't always be reported to CarFax.
If you have a local Kia dealer (not the same place that's selling the car) see how much they charge - an inspections should be $100-200 and well worth it. If the seller isn't willing to let you have it inspected, that would be another signal to avoid it.
Is there a particular reason that It has to be local? Figure out how far you're willing to drive back after buying the car and subtract the cost of a plane ticket for your budget. Do a search in AutoTempest with that radius and you other parameters, and you'll probabky find a better car for the same or lower price.
I’m heading over to Charlotte, NC (I’m in Raleigh) in the morning. Considering a 2022 GT2 RWD that is CPO. 31,500 miles. Sales rep maybe? They’re asking $39,900. Seems to have been on the market for 70+ days. One local owner. Panthera/black. Been looking at Stingers for at least a year. Love the look and how they drive. I’m ready!
So, any thoughts on this potential purchase?
Good deal?
Pitfalls?
Run?
Hopefully some Forum vets will respond before I walk in the ‘ship!

I live in MN, which they use all kinda nasty chemicals and salt on the roads here. No way in hell I'd touch a car that has rust on it already. Even here in my trips to the dealership I haven't seen any Stingers with rust yet. Usually paint issues and the discoloration or peeling of the black chrome is the worst I've ever seen. Most likely that car took damage at some point either by rocks or whatever and either wasn't repaired or wasn't repaired properly.
Hey Guys, I'm thinking of getting this car just wondering if its a fair price? or if I can still negotiate this price lower? Its a white with red interior 2019 Kia stinger AWD GT Limited (GT2 in the states) with winter tires. Anything that I should look for before buying this? I cant send links unfortunately but its in Sherwood park volkswagen alberta
Price is 38, 907 Canadian and Mileage is 59,622 KM. Converted should be around 28, 906 USD and 36661 Miles.

I would check right behind the oil drain plug at the housing between the engine and transmission there are some reporting that either the trans main seal or engine mail seal are leaking. I own that exact model and havent had an issue yet at 110k kms, does it come with the tire package and summer tires on separate rims or is it only winters?
I just replaced my back tires and it 700 Canadian for 2 potenza RE92 installed....tire prices are crazy here

That sounds like a plan, did you ever purchase any extended warranty? It comes with both on seperate rims. The Winter tires have the stock wheels from the factory.
That sounds nasty, with tax? I think alberta has it a bit cheaper which province are you from?

I got the full platinum extended warranty to 200k, Im in Halifax Nova Scotia area.
I have the factory rims as summers and 18 inch for my winters, running 19s in the winter is bad because our road pot holes are really bad in the winter.
But knock on wood I have had zero problems aside from normal maintenance, I did fluid change of tranny and both diffs at 100k but 95% of my driving is highway.

same here i guesss ill consider that full platinum as well its a pretty ood deal considering it lat to 200k km. Are you able to tune your car and keep the warranty? or is that something thats going to void it?

I have a pedal tuner and oil catch can, car is plenty for me now. I also put in the HKSspark plugs but I dont plan on tuning anytime soon.
The only mod I want to do is add an amp just for the subs to give them a little more punch.
That sounds fun. Has anyone done a write-up or a video on that? I've spent so much time fussing with my engine I hadn't bothered to mess with the stereo. The low-end is definitely not as taut as I'd like it to be.

I owe an update here! @Sabs and @Redleg94. You were both right about being cautious on the initial stinger I had found at the chevy dealership in RI. For only 1.5k more I was able to find a single owner CPO 2019 GT2 ceramic silver with 31k miles coming off a lease down at a dealership in Maryland. The car was owned by an older gentleman who took great care of it and had it dealer serviced regularly. So by being a little patient, and by taking a flight down to Maryland (couple hundred bucks), I got the exact car I wanted, with the perfect spec, with a CPO Warranty. Price with CPO warranty before taxes was 38.5k. Not cheap, but easily worth the 1.5k over the other one (which already sold), and a price I was willing to pay for exactly what I wanted. Thanks to you both for the insight that landed me the right one!
where did you see the price? all I get is 'price unavailable'. I think that $41,000 is too high. the market is dropping. nice low miles though. and that is a great color, I would know.
as a comparison, although I don't have any specifics as to condition, locally (utah) a gt1, 2018, awd with c. 45,000 miles, was selling a couple of weeks ago for $25,000.
