Where do you get this chart? I am thinking about trading in my 2019 GT2 AWD and then pick new one up later, 2023 model year GT2 RWD at end of next year.

I manually take prices from all the listings from Autotrader, eliminating salvage titled cars and those with extremely high or low mileage, then put the average into Excel. It's accurate for list prices, but since it's tedious I only do it once every two months.

CarGurus tracks price trends, but they don't differentiate between trim levels. This means a base 2018 2.0L will get lumped in with a GT2.

Chart updated for October.

The GT1's currently for sale are priced more closely to GT's right now. Otherwise, just typical depreciation across the trims over the last two months.2022-10-october.webp

I've actually started to see a couple 2022s drop in price, was kinda shocked. While not a massive drop, they still dropped in price. Both cars are white, one is a Scorpion package. Both those cars have been on the dealers website for a while now.

The price drop over the last two months was the steepest I've seen yet. Demand for cars has been lower along with interest rates being higher, so this was due to happen.

Still, prices are around what they were in late 2019/early 2020. Keep in mind these cars are nearly 3 years older with mileage to match.

Yeah pretty crazy how expensive used cars got. Note that the GT and GT1 pricing is around the same, the GT2 (only) fetching $1500-2000 more. When I was shopping for mine, there was a $3000 difference between GT and GT1, and more like $6500 between GT and GT2. So not a lot of residual value in the premium trim. People buy the Stinger primarily for the drivetrain, then they consider what additional features are of interest. They're buying it for its sporty nature, not as an entry level luxury car.

This was the scenario when I bought my car in 2020, awd gt2 was 46k, gt1 was 41k. Paid 36k for the base awd gt. I definitely wanted the gt2 though, only for the smart trunk and the sunroof the rest is take it or leave it to me.

With that said the base gt imo is better than a gt-line car but not having nav and the ugly 7" screen is a joke. I see base cars for sale now and again and I can't believe how bad that looks. I use my nav quite a bit, glad I did the swap. I also think the cars with the sunroof look better as the black breaks up the roof color. Even though I didn't get the exact model/color I wanted, still glad I bought the car, cuz I woulda paid way more for less had I waited.

Mid February update. Prices continue to drop at a bit faster rate than they did before the market went crazy. However, this only puts the price around where it was in late 2019/early 2020, but with higher average miles and 3 more years of wear.

The price difference between GT's, GT1's, and GT2's continues to narrow.

I rarely ever see awd base gt's for sale in my area. Mostly see gt-line or gt2's for sale. Does Kia have build numbers for their cars? Just wondering how many gt's were built compared to say gt1/gt2's? Obviously they aren't "rare" compared to say the sunset yellow, indigo blue or gts models.

That’s never been broken down by trim or even by 4cyl/6cyl. They only publish numbers for the model as a whole.

From the numbers I’ve seen since I started watching the new and used markets, these are my estimates for production of the 2018 6cyl models: 15% GT, 20% GT1, 65% GT2.

AWD variants probably account for less than half of the GT numbers, so you can see how they’d be so hard to find.

@Sabs, What do you think I should be paying for a 2019 GT2 with ~30k miles clean history? New England Area. I greatly appreciate your insight!

Goal is ceramic silver with the black interior but most seem to be with the red interior. could live with that haha.

I would expect to pay around $35k in your area. I recommend getting one CPO if you can find it, though it may be tough with a specific color in mind. That might run another $1-2k more.

Yup thats about where I landed with my assumption. looks like the enthusiast used car rise inflated prices such that if you look over the last 2 yrs, they haven't really depreciated much. Might be a tough time to buy as they start to revert back to a more standard depreciation over the next 6-12 months... also thanks for your graphs, they are just about the most useful thing i've seen for GT2 Pricing information

Looks like that graph is about to go much higher than last "wave", as we are turning into United Republic of Banana States. If you think we are done with high inflation, think again.

Considering, that many countries around the world, seems to be, trying to get off the dollar system, those dollars might end up back home, bidding anything that is not nail down here, on top of the new "printed" trillions.
