New Intake

it was hard to get a clear pic, but there was like a 1/4" gap so the original bolt wasn't long enough to grab.

Odd...I wonder if the new shipments just don't sit flush...I had some play but got both OE bolts in with no problem.
Are you mounting the rest of the box tight before attempting that bolt?

I installed that bolt first before the others . No problems. Installed bolt loose then put in the others before tightening.

So I tried that, but then I couldn't get the other bolts to line up and thread. Buddy that was helping me offered to give it a try so I went to the passenger side and he figured out that the front bolt was causing the misalignment. So socked down the other two at the bottom of the intake housing.

I wonder if different model years are sligjtly different layout which is causing the issue. But not enough of an issue to prevent an easy workaround.

id like to have that woosh sound, as long it doesnt mess anything up with the car. how much does it cost to get that woosh and whats the best brand; i like those ones that look like red horns, the metal pipe looking ones. i know the point of modding with performance parts is to get it tuned afterwards to make the mods work, but i dont want to go too far. can you get cold air intakes to make it woosh without having to get everything else?

You can get the woosh sounds with any intake that isn't enclosed. AEM, Stillen, Injen, K&N (not the drop in filters for the stock boxes). Also if you just want the blow off sounds (the woosh you get when suddenly letting off the gas after hard acceleration), you can disconnect the hoses that go from the blow off valves to the stock intakes. You just have to make sure you plug/seal the ports on the intakes where the hoses connected. You just won't get the suction/turbo spool up sound that way.

Yay!!! Just got an email with shipment info!!

Mine showed up yesterday. Right on time for 3 or so days of rain. Guess I won't be installing until next weekend. Also I did an inventory of the box. Like others it was missing both of the #32 clamps. I figured I might as well call them to let them know they were missing. They said 7 to 14 days for them to ship. If I don't get'em before I get a chance to work on it, I'll probably just re-use the existing clamps for that spot.

I just received an email stating mine have now shipped. I ordered on 15 Aug. the original estimated ship date was late Oct so maybe they’re catching up on back orders.

Finally finished installing mine not too long ago. The drivers side fit is definitely a tiny bit wonky compared to the passenger side but I was able to get all 3 of the stock screws in. Just followed the directions when it tells you to install the front one loosely at first. Only got it about 3 or 4 turns threaded then went for the rest. Had to pull and move the airbox around a bit but finally got it. Other than that, my only input is the passenger side clamps are kind of a pain because there's just not much room, but it's certainly doable.

Also after the first drive, I definitely notice more induction and blowoff sound, but probably would never notice over the radio. Turned it off and heard it pretty well. Also seemed a bit more punchy, but that could be just my happiness that I finally installed it.

Glad to hear. After all my research im choosing AFE. Closed box design is a huge plus for IAT

If anyone is interested in reading my 2 cents regarding the airbox plugs, here you go. I very satisfied with the intakes and it's option to be ran as a fully enclosed intake or a partially enclosed intake.

Thread 'aFe intake airbox plug observations.' 3.3TT - aFe intake airbox plug observations.

Installed mine this weekend as well.
The turbo elbow clamps where also missing in my box, fortunately I had some from mods on previous cars.
Install took me about 2.5 hours including redoing the passenger side tubing because one of my supplied hose clamps was slipping when tightening. As others have stated, the driver airbox takes some extra finessing to get it lined up and threading the bolts.
I used 10mm socket on both bolts inside the driver side airbox, but my craftsman 1/4" would not fit the far left bolt inside the passenger airbox so had to use a ratcheting wrench. For the front bolts on the intake, only an offset wrench would fit.

For me these intakes are paired with JA air scoops and the "butt dyno" can feel a little more throttle/turbo response and (with plugs removed) there is just enough increase in turbo/bov to be noticeable (but not enough to be obnoxious).
