New Intake

I guess I get to be the first person to share some video post-install. My co-pilot got a bit trigger happy and ended the video mid-sneeze so sorry for that, I'll pull some dashcam video from my morning commute tommorow.
From drop off to test drive was an hour and a half, would have been less but the drivers side airbox is just a wee bit too short for my '22 and I had to finagle the bolts on the inside while pulling the box into place. It took several cycles of loosening and tightening to get it into place, I was also missing the turbo side hose clamps and had to use the OE ones.

Is this your only modification on the stinger? If so, would you say the noise adjustment is quite noticiable? I am planning to order just wanted to make sure they weren’t TOO quiet

Tyvm! Now to order

Yep, only mod so far, this was without the silencing caps installed. Definitely a very noticeable difference, turbo spool is audible with windows up or down and you can definitely hear the BOVs. I had to strain to hear the turbos spool before when taking off but with this intake they let you know they are there with a subtle but noticeable whistle that isn't overwhelming.

Awesome. Placing my order now haha. They don't seem too be loud at all, and I'm guessing will be even quieter with the caps on, which is great for me!

Amazing man thank you for the details explaining that! I’m going to wait one more day to hear your dash cam videos and also wanted to ask if any noticeable performance difference? Faster throttle response?

My 0-60 was a tenth faster even with an adult passenger, take this with a grain of salt though, 0-60 times both before and after were measured through my phones GPS in an app. I'll grab my OBDLink tommorow since that uses the OBD2 datastream so it should be a little more accurate than GPS, but nothing beats a draggy. Unfortunately it was past 8pm so my cities noise ordinance had kicked in and I didn't get to drive it much except for one good pull, I'll report back soon though, I leave for work in about 5 hours and there shouldn't be any traffic so I should be able to get a good feel for 0-60 and 60-100. From what I did get to experience, ECO mode definelty feels less eco'y and I had to check twice to make sure I wasn't in sport, throttle response in first and second is definelty better.

Here's some dash cam video of the commute to work, listening back to it though, the dash cam does not do it justice, the spool noise is way more noticeable in person.
Some things I've noticed:
  • It doesn't feel all that much snappier in sport, but it is quicker, you won't feel it on the butt dyno but it's noticeable in how quickly it gets up to target speed
  • Builds and gets on boost quicker, wasn't expecting this to be the case
  • Throttle response is way better in ECO mode, the first 30% of the pedal always felt dead to me and this breathes some life into it.
All in all, I'm a happy customer, it looks good, makes some nice noises, and isn't obnoxious. You can make it make noise if you want and for the most part, it's pretty quiet.

I'll edit this post when I get on my lunch break, I'm planning on trying launch control and seeing the effect of the silencing caps.

Nice, seems pretty cool. Looks good in the engine bay too.

Also, another video like the first one you recorded from a phone with the windows down would be great (the video that was cut short)

Two previous owners. One thing the Guys did notice who saw the turbos was the ecu had been f&*%ed with which is a clear sign someone modded it prior to me getting it.

Are they saying the ECU tables have been adjusted, as in a piggyback or tune or the ECU itself was replaced with a different unit?

They just said the way the ecu was sitting in my car it was not sitting properly. They as in the the two guys who were about install the intakes .

So probably a Tork or Lozic tuned car that was returned to stock before selling. It probably had aftermarket intakes and who knows what else on it at some point of it's life too.

I wouldn't even fight Kia if I were you. Trade-in values are high. Probably best to just trade it in for something else.

They appraised it at 29k when I was there at the dealership smh. Got it for $35k roughly in feb of this year so that will be a huge L in my book. That’s what they said as well but still waiting to hear back word on these turbos being replaced

If you decide to sell it don't forget to check Vroom and Carvana.

I know its early days, but are you happy with this upgrade & do you think it’s worth the money.

After a couple of days driving with them on I’ll say I’ve felt the most difference in while driving in ECO . When driving in Sport mode I can’t say nothing has changed but maybe I’ll start to notice more of a change over time.

All in all cost wise for me it was worth it’s aesthetically pleasing. Might take some time to see how it holds up on for someone a tuned setup to be a worthy addition. I lucked out and got them with a discount when they were up for what was apparently preorder.

Fun fact you can pop out the windows on top of the main housings not certain why though.

Sound, I think.
