Differential issue

Not so easy. One of the cars I was looking at was the 10th gen accord ('21/'22).

With the seat comfortably (or not) adjusted, my right knee was in the center console/dash stack. Seat further back resolved the issue but then the pedals felt too far away. I gave up after 10 min.

Subaru - no matter which car I sat in, the head rest felt like it was pushing my head forward.

IMO ergonomics should be primary. Walk away from any car you're not comfortable in.
I think ergonomics will play a larger role in any future car for sure. Now that I had my experience with how comfortable the TLX was for me compared to the Stinger, I for sure will focus on that.

I don't think it happened when we tested it after the replacement. And today is about 10-14 degrees C - while I only drove a bit today it did not have that new noise.

I wonder if the cold is related to it also since as it was pointed out the car was warm in the shop when the differential problem was not there that day either.
It still shouldn't make that noise even when cold. thats not normal.

Unfortunately no car will be perfect. Sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad to get the car you want. The Stinger is that type of car. So much going for it, with a few quirks.
I hear that, and I am willing to take it with this car (notwithstanding the bigger issues). But moving forward I doubt I will because I didn't realize just how much I would notice it.

Oh, for sure. And it is also possible that if it was metal on metal noise, that it just wore it down so the metals are not touching. Which would not be a good thing.

I am scheduled to drop the car off next week for what is hopefully my final time. I will be paying very close attention to the weather aspect.

Any update on the changing of the tires?

I have tried capturing it on video but it is very hard to truly get it.

I can't imagine this is just how it works. It happens the most when I am making slow turns from stop signs on residential streets. It is better when I am making a turn while already driving.

Just yesterday I was making a left from a side street and the nature of the street is you need to catch your space and quickly dart out. So I do that, and right when I turn left, the power just stops for a second. As if I just took my foot off the gas. Meanwhile the car coming in the lane I was about to enter must be thinking what the hell is this guy doing - if you are gonna go then go. This happens often enough that I can't even drive properly because I am always anticipating it.
Brother that's not the diff. It's the traction control. Happens to me all the time.

In combination with summer tires in winter. Sliping and sliding all night long.

wondering where the OP went?

Vroom is probably loading the Stinger onto a trailer as we type. "Stupid Stinger kept losing traction" lol

shame...a Scorpion too. I am more concerned with the noise video he posted. That was a legitimate issue if you watched the video. I am hearing something like that noise from front left so wondering if anything was fixed.

Hi all.

Thanks for checking in for an update. Here is the latest:

The car went back for about 2 weeks. They fixed the new noise - something about bolts from the suspension. They didn't do anything new for the original issue - I am not sure why but maybe they thought the new issue was impacting the fix for the original issue. (Spoiler alert: it wasn't)

They said that a rep from Kia Canada drove it and gave the all clear.

I picked it up and sure enough the original issue was still happening. Perhaps not the same severity. So I drove it a week to keep an eye on how bad it was. I let the dealer know it was still happening. I went to the dealer and drove my Stinger with the mechanic as well as a new Stinger they happened to have in. We both saw the difference right away.

Officially, they had said that this was the last time I was going to come in and if it could not be fixed then we would be moving on from my Stinger. We shall see where that goes.

The new Stinger had the same summer tires as mine so perhaps that was not the issue...?

FYI tires were never changed. I told them to try that so many times. I did drive a new Stinger and it did not have the issue. I double checked the tires and they were the same ones so maybe that was not the issue.

I brought up the traction control but they had some technical jargon why it was not and they said they checked it out and it was fine. I don't know if that makes sense or not...
What did they say? Because I know for a fact that Kia has some of the strictest traction and stability controls. Like the issue shouldn't happen in sport mode since the traction control is less strict.

Can you define what you mean by Moving on? Would they just be giving you a brand new stinger?

Something to do with the transfer box I think.

I have tried disabling traction control and stability control but that did not do the trick. I have also tried it in all driving modes.

I am not sure if I will end up with a new Stinger or some form of "buyout" of my current lease. Or another brand under the dealership's umbrella company.

And part of me is expecting them to say "wait, we want to try just one more thing". But if they couldn't do it over the 2 weeks they had my car, I am not doing any more attempts at fixing it.

welp, just know that if you do end up in another stinger, all the bits that make your current one a scorpion edition CAN be swapped onto other cars if for some reason kia doesn't make you a new scorpion.
