What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Nah. That’s not the point. ‘More like you’d think to trust them when they’re parking higher end cars all day and night
Yeah but to a typical Valet, no Kia is ( or will ever be ) a "higher end" car, so care factor = zero.
Hand em the keys to a DB9, F488 etc and it's a different story.

Don't mean to sound condescending, but, in most cases you're handing over your keys to someone who's either doing Valet as a part time job or a low paid full time job. Care factor = low to zero.

I went to a resort many years ago when I had my highly modified R32 Skyline and they insisted of Valet parking it.
I politely declined and said I will park it where and how you require and with your supervision. They accepted and I thanked them for their understanding and all went well.

Didn't hurt that they seemed intimidated by the thought of trying to park a car with an aggressive engine idle and the twin plate clutch ;)

Now, handing my keys over to a service department, that is anxiety inducing !
I make a point of getting the persons name and doing a walk around pointing out any existing damage. As a mechanic I HATE handing my car ( even my wife's car ) over to anyone I don't know and trust.

Only one time did I feel totally comfortable handing my keys to a valet, when I had my WRX. A very nice Nigerian guy who when I said something along the lines of "please be careful" he said "don't worry - cars are my passion!".

I also prefer self park garages when going to a city :).

I would be ten times more scared giving a manual transmission car to a valet... and I had a 2014 wrx! :p

Finally tried an oil change using the dipstick evacuation thingy (mityvac).
Pretty slick/clean.
Yes it sucks to still have to jack up the front to replace the oil filter. But that’s not terribly difficult. the cutout access hole is more than enough.

this method is how i change the oil on our e39's... it's great on those and i have measured and i definitely get about 3/4 quart More oil out using the extractor than draining from the plug. It's lovely on the bimmers though since the cartridge style oil filter sits on top so no need to get under at all.

Which model? Where did you buy? I keep reading so many messages on amazon about Mitivac pumps breaking about 3-6 months, 2 uses, etc..

Is it worth getting the one that attaches to an air compressor? I have a Fumoto valve, but just did an HPDE, so I'm planning on doing a flush (no oil filter - it has maybe 500 miles on it). I'm thinking of either cutting another cutout (using the oil filter flower petal) to make another access hole, or trying one of these pumps.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I have the 6.5 liter manual Schwaben extractor... that does mean that you have to empty it partway through since our bmw's and the Stinger hold more than that amount.. the Mityvac holds more but the schwaben was a little cheaper and seems reliable and has worked well over 7 uses so far...

got the 7201 (Amazon). Hand pump. Only takes 9-10 pumps to get it going.

also can be reversed to push to transport containers.

Filed my claim form for the damage with the valet…oh and got this…

I love it when people talk about the Stinger and say "ehhhh the Kia Stinger is UGLY!" You can say a lot of things about the Stinger but it's ugly ain't one of them. Sexy ass car.

Thank you! It’s my lil labor of love. I agree..the gloss black accents really pop on the HCR. I considered selling her due to the crazy amount of money people are getting on the used car market but I couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger. Just love it too much. She’s with me for the long haul

Great pics!

Craziest thing happened today. Went to a glass shop have a very small chip filled or see if they recommend I get a new windshield do to all the pits. The guy (Jason) comes out to look at it and says he'll fill the chip right now, as there was another customer there for the same thing. He fills the chip, and as soon as he finishes literally rubs his hand across the windshield and it starts to crack. As we are both standing there the crack just keeps spreading. Needless to say it's an insurance claim and I have a new windshield coming. Not OEM because I really don't care the OEM obviously isn't that great anyway.

Just make sure the replacement is double-paned noise absorbing.
