Good Surprise Surprise - Buy Offer on Vroom

I submitted the documents on Vroom to sell. Driver's license, registration and mileage. I haven't gotten any email yet about next steps but it was done late Friday so may have to wait for after the weekend or they are sending me something to sign or review physically.
How is the process for you going so far? Have they picked up your car yet? Received payment?

Vroom is telling me $37,500 for my 2018 GT2 with 24,509 miles.

If I moved on that, I would be looking to replace it with a _new_ 2021 or 2022, but I'm not optimistic I'll find a deal I want to take.

You will but it’ll require you to search for a dealer that’s in the business of selling cars and not looking to extort every customer who they contact. It’ll be tough. How much is your time worth? If you’re not in a “must buy now” situation, you have time on your side.

So far, so good. Taking a bit longer than I'd expect but there are no complaints on how things are being handled. I am currently waiting on a phone call from the carrier to schedule a pick up time. A lady I spoke with stated they are back logged at the moment and I understand that, the market is a frenzy at the moment.

I think they should handle their payment differently. Reading some of the comments in the thread, Autolender GO and Carvana give you a check up front or when the car is picked up. I have to wait 3 days for mine to be given to me. That's fine as I understand the legal side if things go astray and they don't send the check. But yeah man, nothing negative to say so far. I have the number of the carrier so I'll be giving them a call tomorrow if I don't hear from them. Speeds up the process a bit.

Move on it. That is what the GT1s and 2s were selling for before this frenzy broke out; '18s of course. Now, you can get rid of it without taking a trade-in hit or getting less for it in the future. Heck, just buy a '20 or '21 for that price that's slightly used and certified. Same car, thousands less. And, you got an extremely high amount of money on a car that is 3 years old.

I'm curious to see what the residual is for the ones that leased in '17/'18. I'm thinking around $30k but someone chime in please. Everyone, and I mean everyone, should be taking the lease buyout and selling themselves.

Currently in the process of contacting the transport business that will pick up my car. So far, bad experience. Vroom said they would call 48-72 hours after I received the confirmation email. It has been 5 days. I contacted them last night, the individual stated to call back in the morning when they had schedulers. I said no problem.

Called this morning and left a voicemail. I checked on google and and the business stated they are permanently closed.... That can't be because I called someone and talked to them at the business. Called another 5 times throughout today to get nothing but a voicemail.

Hopefully they call today. If not, I'll be calling Vroom to see if they can cancel the tender bid on them and re-bid to someone else. First impressions of this company do not lead me to believe they are trustworthy. Business is called Queen City Towing.

More to come.

I just had it picked up. Slight delay with the holiday weekend and the scheduled pickup for last week was postponed as the pickup driver was having issues with his truck. I do have to figure out the difference now in the remaining loan as the 14 day payoff passed yesterday.

Contacted Vroom and they called the transport team. Weird, I was on the phone with Vroom and then the transport company called as I was on hold.

They are picking up the car on Monday at some point. Lady I spoke with was nice and inviting. Calms me down a bit due to the couple days worth of calling and reaching only a voicemail.

More to come.

How is the difference in payoff and the experience been with Vroom paying you? Do you have a check yet?

Apart from the issue with delay on pickup, the experience of selling my car has been SUPER easy. Actually I highly recommend them at least for selling a vehicles. Just be honest with filling out paperwork about mileage and any damage. For the loan, they will request a 14 day payoff from your lender, subtract the difference from the loan and then they will bill you for the difference. You must pay off the negative equity before they will continue the process and they will overnight the payment to your lender. Very easy process. It's already up on the website to be sold. They have very VERY low margins. It's actually insane. I miss it already but I got quite a bit of fun from it!

Away she goes.... Contacting Vroom to verify they received the BOL transport papers to start the payment process.Away She Goes.webp

My Offer decreased from last week. Last week Vroom was at $37,246. This week they are at $35,612. The mileage went up by 50 since then. I guess it will be down hill if I don’t make a move!

Mine was a very similar decrease. I would suggest checking with Carmax; they offered me what Vroom was offering before the decrease.

I’m actually at a local Carmax right now, hopefully starting paperwork.

Finished up and ended up selling it to Carmax this evening. Walked out with a check for 6.5k and change in equity. Was about 2k more than I was expecting due to the dealer buyout being lower than mine. :D
Very likely the only time I will ever make money selling a car to a dealer - or anyone really.

Overall, a very pleasant experience.

I did have an issue with this but it isn’t Vroom’s fault. Kia gave Vroom the wrong payoff amount. It was $2,300 over what it should be. Vroom paid me $50 through a bank transfer almost immediately. However, I have to wait for the other $2,300 to come from Kia.

This was almost 5 weeks ago. I have called Kia many times and they just keep telling me 6 weeks. Wait 6 weeks. Kind of stinks but what can you do?

I did the same thing with my Ford last week but I should get a check for $9,100 sometime this week. Kia finance takes forever to do anything with respect to paying us. They will take your payment quickly but they won’t pay you quickly.

That’s the issue. If title isn’t in hand, you are the mercy of KFA (Kia farking asshats).

to not even get a remotely close payoff amount. Ridiculous.
