Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Just use you original KIA sd card which is 32Gb for the new update. I don’t think you can downgraded to the original version. There is no reason to keep the original card.
Yeah. Okay. I don't feel like going to the "Buy More" to look for a FAT32 SD card anyway. So, we're reformatting the KIA SD card, on the 'puter. (No reason to go through this in the car, is there? This is probably faster too.)

One problem arose with my update. Every time the Nav wants you to turn, at the exact place it will ((((DING)))) at approximately the volume of a .45 cal revolver! So painful it gave me a headache within 4 or 5 turns. By the time I got home, my throat actually hurt. Could not find where to turn it down/off. The Nav was unusable, but I couldn't figure how to turn it off out on the road. Got home and found the magic buttons. Pictures bottom to top, sorry.

Now it's there, but you have to be listening for it. . . . .

There is a Kia software update program you can use. It walks you through the update process so that none of it is manual.

has anyone actually gone back to an older version using an older SD Card? I was under the impression it was a one-way street and inserting the old SD Card would give an error about an invalid version.
I downgraded today through engineering mode. Everything worked except my car not registering with UVO. If you're Canadian you may need to call them to reenable it after the downgrade, takes them 30s to click a button for you.

Might have stumbled onto it. First time I started the car, got the "not recognized" message (however it's worded); tried to find my way to the screen to start the update, and no joy. Came inside and looked at the tutorial on my laptop; went back out, started the car and got a query, do you want to update? Clicked yes, and everything was automatic after that.

Drove around (backing out without my reverse camera, in the dark, was a bit of a rush), and in c. twenty minutes NAV reset itself and I was following the nighttime map. Cool! I like it.

For one thing, the little marker where "you" are has more perspectives than just one slant: if you are using 700' the updated graphic gives you a more slanted, forward perspective, which results in more "heads up" to see what's coming: back out to half a mile and the view is more vertical but still 3D; also, you get the streets further out now; before, if you left 700' and went to quarter mile, the residential streets would disappear: now they stay visible.

The volume on the stereo is more granular: it starts well into the teens and sounds the same as "10" did before, so, each volume click changes it less, which is good.

Sirius XM was lit up in the media sources selection: hmm!? I guess they are giving me another three month trial? (I never availed myself before, but then, it wasn't in the queue before). Also, Bluetooth audio is lit up, but it says the device needs the app activated; before, when I'd get impatient and click USB before it had finished connecting, Bluetooth would be searching (and of course nothing there, because I don't listen to music through a cellphone); so, it's probably the same interface, it just looks different. Anyway, that's all I've got on changes.

Oh, I followed my nose to some relatively new streets and they were there on the update, so, that is encouraging.

Unfortunately this didn't change for me after updating my '19 GT2.

Regardless of source, my volume levels aren't nearly granular enough. On most stereos, a 1 or a 2 is barely audible.

I can only have the volume level at a 2 or a 3 with passengers before it's too loud to have conversations.

I updated last night everything went fine but I can’t set presets for Sirius AM/FM works fine any thoughts?

This is my experience, too, but I haven't done the update that just came out. I have updated every other time (about 5 or 6 in total now)...and none so far affected the volume that deafens a normal person long before reaching even half-way to max. The logarithmic scale is reversed with the flattening incremental effect at the upper-end of the range instead of the lower-end where 99.9% of people need it.

I'm sure you know what you're talking about. It's Greek to me. I just do what the screen prompts tell me. (download to my 'puter is now 25%; somehow I feel that I've taken a long detour that wasn't how this is done.......)

Why is the NAV update using FAT32 anyway? That's ANCIENT; a brand new SanDisk (64 GB) won't even work if FAT32 is required; how do you even find a FAT32 compatible SD card??
Actually you can use a 64GB card. You just can't format it using Windows. I use GUIFormat to FAT32 format my 64GB SDcard and I'm on my 3rd update.

You're the second person to educate me on this and where were you guys last night? Hah. :P

They changed how you set pre-sets. Tune to the station and you will see a star below the station number on the right. Press that and it will turn red and it's now set. You can't set a sequence for the pre-sets. They are in sequence by number within mode.

Called Sirius about the presets because I’m having the same issue. Apparently there was a new update and policy change on their end which may be causing an issue for some cars. The rep sent a refresh signal and said to wait until tomorrow to try again...he said it should work. If not, it should be back to normal in a week...and if it doesn’t work then too, to call the tech support department and troubleshoot with them. Not sure how much help that is but thought I’d post

The presets work fine. You just save them by clicking on the heart on the right hand side of the channel .

I’ve been doing that, but every time I do that, SXM resets and won’t save the resets...that’s why is called to figure it out.

I fixed mine by wiping the SD card, and all the files the kia app puts on the computer and re downloading the files and copying them back on the SD card

I just updated today because I'm a sucker for updates. The first difference I noticed (other than the ugly purple color theme) was that the startup warning screen is much more intrusive than before: it pauses audio completely (at least through Carplay) until the "OK" button is pressed. It used to appear and go away on its own without intervention.
