Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

So am I to understand that the V14.x version does NOT have searchable address capability (from onboard maps) without some type of internet connection to the servers? That just doesn't sound right
Not exactly sure, but it appears to be an app like Waze. Anyway, doesn't work with my 2018 GT2

I tried updating Sunday. I spent 6 hours trying to figure it out. Finally gave up. Turns out the update corrupted my SD card.

I have no Nav. I called consumer affairs. They had NO IDEA that KIA even had that website. Guy told me "We don't know, you need to call the dealer". So I called the dealer and they said "That's not a service warranty, that's a parts warranty" so I get transferred and I was told "that's not a KIA Dealer issue, that's a KIA issue call MAPnSoft" so I call MAPnSoft and they say "Call KIA Consumer affiars"

I am so close to an early lease termination it's not even funny. I love this car with all my heart but the dealers, and KIA make it so hard to love this car anymore.
download the files from JohnL from this post and unzip to a fresh class 10 32GB SD Card (less than $20) and try again.

or, purchase a new SD card from the mapnsoft website for $25 + shipping.

I'm on a 2019 and it looks like addresses still work for me. Don't have it connected to anything. They're displayed kind of weird (maybe it was always like this, I honestly can't remember), but seems to work just fine.

If you have a 2018, probably won't work fully, the 2018s don't have the abil;ity to access the cloud.. If you know someone with a 2018, maybe copy or clone their SD card to a new one you buy.

Looks like Kia launched a new website for updating the existing SD card at update.kia.com. And it's now FREE for US as well. New SD cards can be ordered from mapnsoft.com/kia for $25.
That looks the same to me so THANK YOU for the confirmation! I ordered the SD card from Kia since the download raised so many flags. I bit the bullet and paid the extra $7 for FedEx since USPS can't seem to do their job these days.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Not sure why my reply tagged another user but....thanks again. Oh and I too have a 2019

No US market has access to the cloud. US market do not have integrated cell module.

More confusion. So the maps search function WILL work?

More confusion. Will the maps/search function work without internet connection in the US for cars 2019 and later?

Wow, hope it works better than the site this morning :p

It would appear based on others in the US, that 2019+ is not problem.

I’d love to confirm/deny the 2018 gt2 (which I have as well) but the damn download tool doesn’t work, and I’m not going to download files from a share (no offense to those providing the files).

Agree 100%, I ordered the factory SD card. Still, I'm going to wait before updating in case it is not reversible

I think Kia introduced a bunch of confusion. From what I can tell, the search function uses their servers IF you have an internet connection (like Stingers do in Canada). If not, like my 2019 GT2, it uses the internal files. My car, with this latest update, had no trouble finding multiple addresses. The only odd thing is that the 'Address' icon is missing so I have to use voice commands to search for addresses. So far it works just fine. Hopefully the icon, which you could only use while parked, will return in a future update.

Basing on my experience, 2018 GT2 with the SD card version I bought from Mapnsoft. The POI function works and navigation to any previous destinations you had saved also works as does the map display. The POI will take a zip code so you can navigate from city zip code to city zip code but you can't enter an addrtess like 123 Oak St, Anytown, Anystate . Can't get it to handshake with phone address book either.

My next thought is to see if I can take the original 2018 SD card, copy it to a new SD card and then see if I can copy the updated POI and map files from Version 14 SD card to the cloned 2018 original SD card.

I did try the download and was successful, but it took a loooong time, I just left it and came back hours later and it had finished, But it was the Korean version and unless you can interact with the Cloud, you can't switch to the US maps and POIs.

What would make me very happy would be the coders put the "address" icon and function back into the version 14.

Mine came USPS very quickly, but probably depends on where you live, I have more trouble with Fedex, think I am at the end of their distribution route.

Thanks JohnL, for sharing the files for the update. After updating my system with the files your shared, the missing Ventilation menus are back, and I see full functionality. I even have the options for the engine sounds, which I read earlier in this thread that this feature was missing for another user.

I highly recommend others to update their 2019-2020 Stingers using your provided files and not ordering from Mapnsoft.

I zipped it using 7-Zip so it named the files like that, .001 is the start of the multi-volume ZIP, so you should just need to open that with an application that will support it (7-Zip, WinRAR, whatever.).

This worked perfectly for my 2016 Sorento SX. So happy to have Apple CarPlay now! Thank you so much!

Odd for sure, but my guess is that V14 is done and loaded on SD cards, but they already know there is an issue with it, and 14.5 will have it corrected but the software isn't done or tested and that's why the July date.
Seems prescient now ...

Lol... I work with software people.... call it an educated guess...or "I've seen this before"
