Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

Can one re-use the existing SD Card with the download (assuming it works)?

You sure can. Kia had given me an update to the current map right after I purchased my car. I used the original SD card that came with the car for this update.

Thanks. So the car doesn't need the original SD card to boot the head unit? Just take it out, use it for the update, put it back in, start the car, do the system update?

In my case I wanted to keep the latest SD card in case I needed to revert to the old software for some reason so I used what was essentially a spare card. With the car off I swapped the existing card with the one with the update. I started the car and, after it booted, I went ahead with the update. I left the new card in there when the update was finished. I assume that the Nav system uses the map files that are on the card.

Btw, I went for my first drive since the update and everything worked just fine. I used the Nav to find my way home.

Mine keeps doing what others have mentioned. Gets to about 75-80% and goes back to 60% and eventually has the zip failure. Tried formatting the SD Card since I'm using a different one than the one in the car, and it still failed. Also tried installing to my HDD so I could move it to the SD, same problem.

I uploaded that file to File on MEGA
It's just under 500MB.

I wonder if Kia (Hyundai) is using something like Akamai and there are some bad copies out there. If you have access to a VPN you might try connecting to a server near Spokane (where I am) since I was able to download the software without any problems.
Awesome, thanks. That actually did it, I downloaded that and put it in the right directory after it failed to unzip, but before clicking on retry. Tried to do that before with the partially extracted file just to see what'd it would do and it did not react the same way, so it looks like it does do a hash or signature check on it to validate the file is correct, which is nice.

Just for the sake of completeness, I did try to connect from various locations (Seattle, Sweden, New York) and all the files came from the same IP so not sure there's a CDN in place, or at least not one that does distribution very well.

I don't have an extra SD card sitting around at the moment so I'm going to make a backup of the Kia one and then use that to see how it goes. If that works then it means that the updater probably really isn't doing much beyond downloading/extracting and validating files so the same files would work for everyone. (Although whether or not just sharing the entire directory would be a ToS violation is another question)

How large are the downloaded files

For my 2019 Stinger, the download fails every time at about 72%, with an error "Error Code 1: ERR_FILE_SIZE". I also get a similar error every time for my Sorento. This is some pretty half-baked crap-ware :)

Just performed the update and looks like everything went okay. Haven't had time to use it yet though, maybe tomorrow. Looks a bit different in general (rounded buttons on things is the most obvious), not sure when they made those changes though so maybe they did that a while ago.

I'm glad that file allowed you to complete the download. I was looking at uploading the entire package to a file sharing site but I won't bother if that one file helps others to get this working.

I like the changes that I've noticed so far. The only odd thing is the loss of the 'Address' icon but you could only use that when you were parked anyway. The voice commands work fine so that's not a big issue for me. I'm planning a long trip pretty soon and I wanted the maps and POI's updated so at least I've accomplished that with your help. Thanks again!

Those of you who are having issues with the download/extraction for their 2019-2020 Stinger might try what forceflow2 did. Get the file from my post #398 and place it in the appropriate folder after the failure (on my machine the folder is 'C:\Users\John\Documents\HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP\Navigation Updater\2019_20_Stinger_USA\Data\Nation\NA\Search') then hit retry and it might work.

Tried. Got a little further than usual and failed again.

Maybe try a different computer and or a different SD card? It could be picky, or you could have a dying SD card.

This isn't the SD card yet. It's just downloading the file to HD. Computer is fine.

I'm in the process of uploading the whole package for the 2019-2020 Stingers to a sharing site. I've gone through every folder and the only copyright files I'm finding are for what appears to be the software that was used to create the overall package. They're all variations of open source and/or no warranty statements. All of them allow copying and distribution of the software as long as the copyright notices are included, which they are. I can't find any copyright that mentions Hyundai or Kia.

If this creates a problem for anyone, especially the moderators, please let me know and I won't post the link.

The files won't be finished uploading for a couple of hours or so. My upload speeds are not that fast. I've zipped the files into a multipart zip archive. Each file is 500MB and the total is just over 17GB.

Maybe try changing the folder it is downloading to? Depending on how deep their file structure goes there could be file name path limits if your user name is long.

I've tried saving on different solid state/hard drives, using either the default or custom path, and reinstalling the downloader with the same result. With so many having these issues, I'm thinking there's something wrong with the file delivery service or file decompression.

@JohnL thanks for doing that - if we're allowed to use the link I'll test the update and let you know.

Ya, this isn't a local issue related to someone's computer. There's either a corrupt file being served up somewhere, or some bug in this (sorry excuse for a) software.
