• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

GTA Stingers

No, and I'm assuming that is because the power cuts off with the engine.

I once had one installed in a 2008 Ford Escape. It was plugged into the cigarette lighter, and it always got power, even with the key switched off. It actually killed the battery once when the car was sitting for three days

Yeah, Fords keep running even on my neighbour’s focus and Escape. Very weird.

I need technology and quality to run the camera when parked since that’s a very vulnerable state for a car, so you gotta pay to play. The Panago won’t cut it. I’m intrigued by this Blackvue Camera and will probably buy one. Maybe you

Blackvue definitely looks like a cut above what I've been buying.

In fact, reading its features makes me reconsider my old Papago

I have a blackvue and its power ez which plugs into the obdii port for power.
Hey, with Power Ez, have you noticed that it runs constantly draining the battery?

There are settings on the obdii connector that you can select the length of time (last 3 toggle switches) that the cameras will run when parked or limit the degree to which the battery is allowed to drain (first 2 toggle switches).Power-Magic-EZ-OBD-kit-installed.webp

I was considering buy this but good to know these options are available. Where did you buy yours from?

Ebay I think. I also see them on Amazon

I installed the power magic pro with mine and can say that I would highly recommend it. A few fuse taps and it is completely hidden

Just got around to doing some modification. Borla, K&N, GFB.
Would love to upgrade to an LSD when someone figures out how to do it.

Anyone know a local shop that can tune a spare ECU? Looking to get the exhaust pops.

Can swapping ECUs be done? I would imagine not, but I wouldn't know for sure. I would be damn interested to hear more, though

Bye bye Papago! I'm getting the Kenwood DRV-A501WDP Dual Dash Cam with 3" Display, GPS and Wi-Fi hardwired to the Stinger!

You can if you want to keep your OEM unchanged but the tuner will need to open the ECU and there will be signs of tampering so it defeats the purpose!

Who in our GTA group has the JB4? Is it a night and day difference, and worth it? I went on their website and it’s still not clear to me what one would need to buy. The car has plenty of power (I think Kia under-reports the power), but as KharTuners says, it’s never finished, lol; I feel like adding something else to the car.

Am I correct in that you buy 1) the main kit, 2) the wireless program so you can link info to our phones, 3) the fuel wire to help the fuel pump sync w the higher performance (??) and 4) the colder spark plugs where we have to manually gap smaller before installing?

I've been contemplating one for a while now, but I do not have one yet.

People do say that the power gain is significant. Some have even gone so far to say that the JB4 is the only upgrade available that gives such a noticeable power boost.

The latest JB4 you can buy already has what you need in terms of fuel wire. Also, you will need an interface method of some kind, either BT or cable. Last, you need to, at minimum, regap your stock plugs. But most folks here (and I just did it too) swap in Denso IKH24 5346 gapped to 0.022"~0.024"

I see, thanks. Oh wow, you changed your spark plugs and re-gapped them already? Possibly in anticipation of buying a kit? Does it run or consume gasoline any different using these new spark plugs?

Yeah, I didn't waste time lol. I ordered 6 plugs from The Wrench Monkey and they came within 2 weeks; I re-gapped them myself down to 0.024", and I just had my appointment at Lockwood Kia done on Tuesday.

While I was waiting for my plugs I anticipated buying a Rcechip, since I was not planning on modding much beyond a piggyback and plugs (maybe, MAYBE blow-off valves). But after a bit of research, here and other automotive forums, it was obvious that JB4 is the way to go.

I plan on buying the JB4 at the K8 Stinger Store online, since it would be cheapest for us (Park Auto Motorsports in Kitchener and Touge Tuning in Mississauga both advertise for cheaper, but with tax makes it more expensive).

As for consuming more or less gas, TBH I am always flooring it (new car lol) so right now gas economy is shit. I don't notice much now; I just have to trust that the plugs are good for once I get the JB4

I see. I ordered one item from the K8 Stinger store and they didn’t charge customs, so I got a surprise bill from FedEx a few days after, so whatever price they quote you, you’ll probably have to pay several tens of more dollars on top!

Fedex, UPS, DHL are all charging "brokerage" fees now. Only way I've seen is via USPS/Canada Post. Most items going that way are on carrier turtle.
