JB4 dash map switch

Enable mode 1, which is the only mode you can select currently in the app, leave JB4 enabled while wipers run. Later we'll enable mode 2 which is the same as mode 1 only it disables the JB4 when wipers are enabled.

Thanks. I'm still trying to figure out this: if I set up my map settings as 0, 1, 2, 3 for stalk positions 1,2,3,4, and then turn on wipers and adjust sensitivity, and then turn off wipers - does it trigger a map change to the new stalk setting?

I don't always have E30, so I wouldn't always want to engage map 3. But I might need that setting for sensitivity in case of a small shower. Do I always have to return the stalk setting to 1 or 2 to get map 1 or 2 back when turn off the wipers?

The map switching is based on the intermittent setting whether the wipers are on or off currently. So you would be going to a aggressive map in the rain making actual wiper adjustments. With the current logic.

Keep in mind though unless you're racing around it doesn't really matter what map you're on. The JB4 maps all have similar low throttle mapping. It's not until heavy throttle that you start to get deviation.

Do you think we will see (the wipers off map 0) option soon?

Ok, thx

What about when your wipers on Auto which mine are 99% of the time.

Use mode 1 so wiper status doesn't affect map selection.

OK one more time for us slow people.
Mode 1
choose your map with wipers off.
Turn wipers on or to auto map selection not affected
To change map turn wipers off and adjust intermeddle setting

Is this correct?

Not correct.

Mode1:
Choose your map with your wipers on or off, the intermittent speed switch determines the map regardless of wiper status.

Mode2 (doesn't exist yet):
Choose your map with wipers on or off, difference is when wipers are actually running, JB4 changes itself to map0 until they are turned off.

You can leave the app open at the same time to play with it to ensure it's doing what you expect.

I've been using this new feature its awesome !

I have a question: if you dont have the app open and make a change to the map on the wiper settings is it making the change in map without having to open the JB4 app ? It would seem like it because when I do open the app after i make a change of map physically its already set to the position i just changed it too. I just wanted to confirm that.

Yes the JB4 itself is reading the wiper position so it has nothing to do with the app.

I'd also like to say the wiper map switch is awesome and valued :) and just had to go check the mail again to see how map 2 feels with stock intake back in..feels good!

Stupid question, do you guys remove the jb4 cable from the OBDII when removing before a dealer service? Kind of a pain for the first time to get it through the firewall..

Ok went for a drive to try this out but maybe I'm dumb but how do you update the app/jb4 to try this? I looked through the app and didn't see a way to download/apply an update.

The app side should work on all apps.

I'm confused - on the n54 diagram, it says Min advance, 0.5 is "max map" - you have it set to 0.2, but you say you'll do map3?

Seems a little contradictory? Or can you have 3 for "Min Gear" but a LOWER Min advance??

Hi Terry, would it be possible that when the wiper stalk is off, we can change the map to whatever we want. then if we put the wipers on, it simply disconnect the connection so that ppl aren't switching map frequently by adjusting the rain stalk sensitivity/speed.

I, too, mostly use the auto mode and I adjust the stalk frequency button quite often and it would just change the map when I use the frequency button. However, when the stalk is just on the OFF position, it could allow us to only then change the map with the frequency/speed button - thoughts ?

That would be the ideal option. Wipe off to adjust the map, Wipe on or Auto it adjust the wiper sensitivity no touch to map...
Another variant could be Wiper off to adjust the map, wipe Auto sensitivity change only, manual wiper on force a specific map 0 or 1 (1 is very mild so potentially ok when it rains).
