This is how I spent my lunch today

It has a Ferrari engine

Actually, it doesn't.

The block is derived from a Ferrari V8. Engineers from Ferrari worked on it. That's the extent of it being "a Ferrari engine".

It's a fabulous engine, and when I bought my Stinger gave me hope we might see similar numbers from KIA themselves.

I've primarily used the south dealership. They're not rude and they give you loaner cars, but the problem is I've had the car in for probably 10 different complaints and they have not fixed a single one (Edit* except a very poor touch up on the side skirt that had a massive paint chip from the factory, and removed the spot under the stone guard from the guy they subcontracted, which left "waves" in the wrap where it was pulled up to remove the spot), are barely did any sunroof investigation, wrote that off as "normal." I've heard from more than one source that the north dealership is equally incompetent for fixing things, and someone mentioned they tried to have the west dealer to fix the sunroof and had the same response as I did. A 5 year warranty doesn't do me much good when they won't bother to fix things, and I think this attitude is justified since I've seen others here in other cities with dealerships that actually TRY to look into things and fix them. I would have tried Sherwood, but it sucks to have to go 25kms out of my way to get service done.

As for Korean car alternatives, I have to say, if Genesis had a G70 coupe that looked like this at a similar price of a loaded spec G70 Sedan...I would be checking it out already (t's just a render):

Should have call KIA Canada, I deal with Go KIA South or Sherwood. You don’t like the BMW Supra, I mean Toyota:whistle:

I probably would like it, but it has a MAJOR flaw that I can't get over, the apparently massive wind buffeting with the windows rolled down. When it's summer and not raining, my windows are ALWAYS down in a 2 door. I won't be able to handle the wind buffeting. Also, it's sitting at that 65K price which is just more than I want to spend with the economy where it is right now.

Actually....if the Supra would have been made with a targa top, I might be looking at it. And no, I don't want a Z4 if that's what comes after that statement lol. I also daily drive the car I pay for, I don't store it. The Supra just might be nice enough for me to feel bad driving it in winter. At least my Mustang was just a Mustang....everyone and their dog has one.

I'm in the last stage of deciding whether or not to attempt a lemon law return of my Stinger. In my state, I met the requirements long ago, but loved the "idea" of the Stinger so much that I endured most of what was wrong in the hopes that it would get sorted eventually. Well, 3 sets of brakes, 2 LSDs later, and all of the other items (hatch rattle, radio fader, paint issues, etc.) I have determined that there is no way that I could own this car long term.

I came from a Lexus ISF and am strongly considering replacing the Stinger with a Lexus CPO RCF or GSF depending on how I feel about coupe/sedan at the time. They have a 7 year/unlimited mileage warranty (from in service date), a glorious V8 sound, rock solid dependability, luxury interiors, and they are also "GT" type cars. Aftermarket parts are also available if that is your thing. RR Racing makes a supercharger kit (670hp) that is phenomenal.

Lexus are undoubtedly well built, and their V8's do sound very good. For me, I wish I could consider an RC-F, but that's a big chunk @ 89K. It's definitely foolish to spend more than your yearly earnings value on the cost of a car, and that exceeds mine.

I think whatever I get will be a fun "placeholder" until something more desirable comes out in a few years, so a 3 year lease should tie me over until whatever car I am looking for is finally out, and hopefully oil and gas is making its way out of this slump.

I was actually pretty set on originally picking up a used Miata for fun, then putting the Stinger on the market and if it sells then it sells, otherwise I'd hang onto it a bit longer. With this collision, I no longer want it, and since it is my only car, I'd be wrestling with lining up buyers, tire kickers and lowballers, hence why a trade for new is just the simplest option for me considering all other things I don't have time for.

I was curious how CPO (certified pre-owned) would fare, and I've found most CPO cars are overpriced. Even if you haggle the price down, you're paying a much higher interest rate on the loan, to the point that I've often found it makes more sense to buy brand new with the incentives on offer.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

RC-F was in the running before I even knew about the Stinger - along with an M3/M4 or C43 AMG. Right until I drove one. The RC-F is an overpriced pig.

LOL! Good to know! I haven't really looked into it, only specs. The Lexus RC's aren't really my favorite coupes for looks either, neither is the Q60 Red Sport, or the S5 coupe...there are some pretty ugly coupes out there right now. While I do like a nice looking coupe on the exterior, it's really the seating position I like....long hood, sitting near the middle of the car, small back seat, it's just different.

Hey.. that's just my opinion. Certainly go drive one and form your own.

It's certainly better than a Camry.. but so is my Sorento.

Holy crap Batman. You guys are waaaay out of my league with ANY of those Stinger alternatives. Guess that’s why I have a 2.0 that I consider fun. So far so good knock on wood no issues.

Once you have a certain amount of horsepower, it's difficult, although not impossible, to scale back. Even if you rarely use it.

In Canada, a big issue is that a Stinger really sits in a unique position, even more than the USA. All the true Stinger alternatives, equally equipped, are about 20K+ more. Nothing offers the all of the things the Stinger does for that price, at least here, it is underpriced in Canada (should cost 65K here considering exchange rates, but is only about 50K for loaded spec).

I'm over the Stinger though, and have been for a while, so it's time to move onto the next thing. Anything could come up between now and the next car, but right now the most appealing on paper is still the Golf R. I really like the idea of getting back into sport compact, except this time, a better built one (the Cobalt SS was TERRIBLE). I just remember vividly how fun a lighter smaller car is as a daily.

All things considered, I have no idea what is going on with this situation yet. It'll be a week tomorrow and I haven't heard a single peep since I submitted information and the dashcam footage to the agent on Friday. I imagine they've been doing assessments this week, are likely sourcing parts costs, probably will have an adjuster go look at it. Maybe I'll hear something next week, maybe not, lol.

My experiences at Sherwood Kia have been great. Granted there's been very few, but that's a good thing.

A heavy pig, that’s why they have the rc f track edition which is even more over priced. Better off going with the LC500 at that point.

No kidding, went from a guy crashing his Stinger to a bunch of petrol heads having a chat about cars.

We didn't stray too far from the original posts, I did ask about suggestions. I hoped there was something out there I missed, but I'm thinking not. I just keep saying no to all your ideas lol. Nothing is good, cheap and fast! Can't have all three as they say.

Well, that depends what you’re talking about......and where.

Maybe the 2021 Acura TLX Type-S is worth waiting for. It is rumored to have a TT V-6 and all-wheel drive as Acura makes the return to being a performance oriented company. Time will tell...

I did actually hear about that and am interested. The existing TLX is rather hum-drum. It could end up being a lot more money though, and I'm leery on buying yet another first model year car even if an Acura, I don't seem to draw the good card in that endeavor. Everything is up in the air and a big "we'll see." If nothing takes my fancy when the car comes back repaired (assuming that's happening), I'll likely just jump on whatever option I choose at that time pretty much right away, I'm ready to move on. In 3 years after that, I can move on once again.

Agreed. My experience with a first year Kia has left a lot to be desired. I went into it with 2 GREAT Hyundai Genesis Coupes easing my mind about the move to the sister company Kia. I never say never, but it is highly unlikely that another Stinger will be in my driveway once I am rid of this one. I am attempting to consult with a lemon law attorney today to see what my options are. It is a shame that there are a limited number of performance oriented sedans that are reasonably priced. Another reason that I don't look too fondly on SUVs. Ironically, there are an increasing number of performance oriented SUVs on the market now. I honestly have no idea what my next car will be. I can't imagine not having something in the 350-400hp range so much that it stresses me out a little.:unsure:

I understand what you're saying completely. There really was a lot to like with the Stinger, but I'm just WAY too OCD to overlook the flaws that I would see and hear every single day. There were so many little things that I knew needed attention and I just couldn't ignore...staining trim (mine was just staring), the plethora of damage to dark chrome on the grille, creaks, rattles, the radio that needed to be reset once in a while, the performance of MY car that I felt was being held back by something (not getting any better 0-60 or 1/4 mile with a Map 2 JB4 tune). I wanted a car that I could just get in and drive and not have to think about what I could be fixing on it, but mine just had so much going on that I felt needed attention, it was too much of a distraction.

I don't know for sure if it's going to work, but I really hope getting into a lease puts me into a "rental car" state of mind where I can just care less. I will still wax it, but I won't do a whole weekend ceramic coat. I won't get all worked up over rock chips. I might be able to ignore some minor noises because if it gets too bad, I can give it back when the lease is up, which typically happens for me right around the 3 year mark anyway. I really hope I can do this! I have problems!

I fell this on a deep level. Its going to be at least a couple more years before I get my next daily and I already stress about finding something that is practical, all wheel drive, not an SUV, and has the power I want.
