Tork Backend Flash

Appreciate it. The only thing keeping me from using your tune is of course having to mail out my ECU all the way to the west coast.

That stops a lot of people, and sadly we do not have the OBDII patch ready yet.

When we get the patch ready, we will have a one time mail us the ECU, and from that point forward you will be able to do all your tuning via OBDII.

We hope to have that ready before spring time.

We hope to have OBDII flashing ready in the next few months... we will make a post when its ready.

Thanks,

John

Nice! Looking forward to it!!

You need a better reason for a road trip?

What’s stopping you guys from providing the flash purely through OBD2? Why the need for the initial ecu mailing?

Dual layer RSA protection with a confirmation between the two chip sets. Cracking one, not an issue, cracking the communication and protocol for the both of them, bejesus. We could unpin and desolder one chip from the board and make it work, but that is risky.

There is only one company that has OBDII flashing done, and it $5k for the hardware. I suspect that this company has an in with KIA or Hyundai Korea and they were given all the security for the OBDII protocol. Cracking dual layer RSA encryption is going to take a few years, unless its leaked by someone to the tuning community.

Wow thanks for the explanation, really appreciate the reply

Dual layer RSA protection, maybe drop a rumor the encryption contains dirt on Hilary and the NSA will have it cracked by the weekend.

Sadly the Attack surface for the ecu is small :(

Tork stage 1 would be a great mild DD and track day car. With your mods and only 18 psi prob around 430-435 hp and easily runs on 92 octane (US).

My car is GT2 AWD, 4100 lb big girl.
After adding intake, and fmic i was running 11.9s dragy. Later got stage 1.5 beta tunes, light wheels and secondary dp and dropped that to 11.58 and 3.65 last March. This winter with jb4 #stacklife 11.51 and 3.58.
Used jb4 to add a little boost at high rpm and now wmi controller. No new times yet with wmi.
Yeah the stage 1 TOrk tune , I will see Classified Motorsports on Friday to see if they can get things set for the TOrk stage 1 , so my wife doesn’t find out lol and get a loaner until I get my ECU back from TOrk :) and if I end up with 400 + whp with my mods I will happy and hit a few Track days on Area 27 again with a real tune this time around lol

I'd be interested to hear your take on the differences. I hope that this is the solution for you. Hopefully you get the performance improvements and resolution to issues that you've had for so long.

BTW, nice to see you guys back on the forum!

Missed your updates and informative posts!

This back end flash sounds great ! Looks like it address quite a few things & limiting factors and gets rid of that dam 130 mph speed limiter ?! Sign me up.

Any possibility of doing an add on for changes to launch control ? I already have the BMS switch done and hit 1.77's 1.80 fairly regular but a fix to LC would be nice for my bracket racing nights.

So good news. I'm releasing a video series on flashing the kia stinger and TORK will be selling a special tune, It will cost a bit more than mailing your ecu in. I'm also considering renting my equipment out to people Via Mail so others can self flash.

Stage 2 is close, But its not done last i heard. I'm running Stage 1 + jb4

Here is a back end flash. Dropped .4 off 0-60 with 1000 worse DAs and less octane.
Original was map 8 e85. After flash map 6 straight 93. Adding some e85 next.
This doesn't add boost so no big LC improvement though not too bad 1.89 60s.
Even with no boost target increase ecu boost hits 18- 19 psi (catless FBO) and with spoof running 23 psi.
I still like full flash but .4 + off is good for $500.
Not quite top tier times yet but some altitude and heat. Also not snipping. 3.85, 3.9 snipped?
You can see by the Gs the 1-2 shift is better.

Just noticed he cut off 40 feet as well, almost 3 car lengths to 60 mph.
